Been down with a reoccurring isuue of a herniated disc that flares up every few years. Painful stuff. A few doses of Prednisone and I'll be good as new in the coming days until it flares up again in the next few years. So, a repost of my OR clone Unknown Western conversion from last summer when the temperatures were warmer and not 3 degrees outside. Come oooon Global Warming! Where the he!! are ya?! We need some heat up in here! When it was 95+ last Summer I was saying the opposite!

As always, the stitching is hidden on my bow work..

Not braving the cold today; hanging in the house. But not unproductive and still behatted at points.

Just finished this rebuild. The body is a Berger of Hollywood. Reblocked from 7 1/8 to 7 1/4. New sweat by Bond; custom cut and fitted by me. Ribbon is navy. My 2nd attempt at gills.

Happy Saturday.

Nice job on the Frunoburger!
If those gills were any better you could breathe through 'em...:)

Nice work.Shark gills are not easy.We think alike,I'm working on hats and liners today.

Thanks Doggie! This was my second attempt, and they turned out much better than my first (though I consider the first ones a bit of a badge of honor). This isn't a good picture, but of course, they're far from perfect. I also screwed something else about them up. There are three gills on the front and four on the back. I decided to go with it, though. I'll tell everybody "I meant to do that!"

Thanks, John. And thanks for naming my hat! The Frunoberger. I like that.

Just tell folks you patterned it after the rare and elusive Asymmetricsl 7-Gill Shark. Only downside is that folks might think that if you know so much about sharks you're some kind of nature loving hippie from California.:)
And you're welcome, but I'm sure someone would have come up with that moniker.

First and foremost, take it easy buddy! I feel your pain, my back is hamburger and I have the same issues. My doctor says "man was not meant to walk on two legs, we would be better off on all fours!" Love this OR look, classic. Beautiful work.

Two hat day. Went to the grocery store this morning for the wifey (she is sick...). Wore my Mallory Aristocrat back bow c1958. Nice dress weight felt, that holds any crease you throw at it. Came home and did some trimming and yard clean up, because...sunshine! My "other" work hat, the Hat City Hat Co. mid century entry level fedora. This would be the hat you bought when a $10.00 Stetson was too much for your budget. Low end, basic, but still superior to many hats of today. Plus, it is just a cool odd ball.

That Konsul is an interesting hat. What country is it from? Without seeing your eyes, the photos have a noir look. Hope they come back 100% soon.

I just love that back bow Madison Avenue. Are you guys getting the arctic blast from the "Bomb" today?

Stunning color and brim on that Dobbs Harv. Very strong looking crease, impressive.

Nice, that Indy just screams quality Bob.

Very Steam Punk of you Matt!

Flaps down, ready for landing! Maybe you will make it all the way up to Zero soon.

Great find. I like the color.
Thanks Mike. Calling me steampunk is insulting to steampunks (IF steampunks can be insulted). I am steamdoofus.

It's a little brisk. Supposed to go down to 6 degrees tonight. If that happens, it will be the 4th coldest temperature ever recorded here. In comparison to what many Lounge members see, that's not too impressive. But it is extraordinary for us Hampton Roads folks.

For someone who adamantly maintains his position as a "hobbyist", your hat work is clearly on a higher level Mr. Jones. That "campaign" bow is excellent, and suits the hat perfectly. Do you take commissions? ;)

My sincere sympathies for your back issues, and good thoughts for a speedy recovery with a minimal amount of discomfort. I understand your concerns, but speaking from personal experience I would suggest you don't push to return to work until you're feeling 100% again. In the long run, your health should be your number one priority.
