Celebrity Look-alikes

Earlier posts about the striking resemblance between Paul McCartney and Angela Landsbury, and a recent one I did about Valerie Bertinelli (long story) got me thinking about celebrity look-alikes.

Two examples of folks who look almost identical and in fact were married come to mind.

Are there any golden era examples out there? They need not have been married or of the opposite sex!

They were regularly mistaken for each other throughout their careers. In addition to the physical resemblance they had similar sounding voices and acting styles, and tended to be cast in similar roles.

Field Marshall Bernard Montgomery and actor Meyrick Edward Clifton James.
James was a lieutenant in the pay corps during WW2, he also did impressions of Monty on stage. His talent was noticed and he impersonated Montgomery in a carefully contrive plot to hoodwink the Germans. I will leave you to decide who is who:

He certainly is. It's well worth a read up, prior to the actual subterfuge, Montgomery permitted James to accompany him, allowing James to note, and use, small details, quirks and body language that made up Montgomery's character.
You might like to watch the film that was made, post war, called: "I Was Monty's Double," were James plays himself as his wartime character.

Saw this flick many moons ago. Excellent film for all the right reasons.
Vividly remember the lesson shown when sentries do not take wartime guard duty seriously.

Double? Pffft!

I'll raise you to three:

Please ignore the abysmal flash animation!

I've said it before and will say it again: why is it that all sixties British rock stars eventually age into looking like the kind of mean old white women who always complain to me that AC is too cold in the theatre? Was it the hormones in the dope they smoked?
