Pretty sure that the Tan Buffalo Thedi is veg tanned and dyed and then antiqued by Theo rather than having a raw finish when new...wouldn't you say?

I think it's the natural tan colour that is antiqued... not sure if there is any dyeing involved as well.
The sample of the tan buffalo looked very uniform when I had it in hand, i.e. no processing that I could see

Following on from my previous post I thought I'd get the Obenauf's out.
Very pleased with the result I must say.

The belt looks great. I'm wondering if you considered exposing it to sunlight to achieve these results? Or were you looking to accelerate the darkening?

I've got a natural belt from Thirteen50 that I've simply left in the sun (when I wasn't wearing it). It's getting darker but it is a very gradual process.

I did think about it but as it's winter there's not a lot about, so yes I did do it to speed things along , plus it was a bit pink.

Nice belt. Who made it?

In my experience, sunlight won't actually darken leather that much, what really does the trick is oil, dirt and grime from daily handling and wear.
All three of these belts were made at the same time (2015) from the same leather, the top one was barely worn, the middle one is worn a few times a week, the last one is worn 80% of the time.
They are all stored in the same place when not in use, ie hanging at the back of a door, not in direct sunlight, but not in the dark either.

Here is a picture showing how they started out:

If you want a cool looking belt, i'm afraid the only way to get there is to wear it...

ahh, I'm expecting a package of pink natural hide belt too, this belt,

I always want a twin pronged buckle on a belt and I love square buckle.

was thinking of getting a long wallet and lanyard too... but in practice I rarely put my wallet on my jeans back pocket so it would be pointless to get that wallet style.

is obenauf the "official" treatment for veg hide?
can I use the same conditioner I use on jacket or mink oil to get absorbed by this thick hide, and do you need to oil on both side or only on the outer side?

2019 would be a year of breaking in stuff.

it does darken a bit from your picture I think, maybe some sun and multiple treatment would gradually darken, I wonder if water is also needed to age it better? leather bracelet that more frequently get wet ages quite fast
