Hello,

I am looking for a vintage OR style in 7 5/8 or 7 1/2 LO. Last Drop liner bonus but willing to pay premium for 7X and better. Thank you!

I'd trade my 7X CB OR for a Stetson Ermine any day!

Not gonna lie Jack, your collection keeps me up at night... even if I never get to own a CB or 100, I am grateful you’re generous enough to post all the info and pictures! An honest treat when I stumble across them. Do let me know if you ever consider the unthinkable (read that line here before and consider it apropos).

Thanks for the nice compliment, Ross! I'll make a mental note we're the same size. I would be intrigued by interesting trade offers (trade up or down) but not really wanting to sell for cash. Sounds like you are serious about collecting & I would enjoy seeing what you have.

Thank you for the welcoming! I am definitely serious but I have nothing to offer unfortunately. I have 2 modern OR royal deluxe (Sage & SB) currently which I doubt of are any interest. I am fairly new to the fedoralounge, though have lurked for a while. I am from Michigan originally but currently live in Santa Monica. I work for HSBC bank (previously at Chase) and have been wearing a suite and tie regularly to work for a decade. As I aged away from baseball caps, I started to look for something more practical for SoCal sun. A trip back home to MI a couple years ago, I found myself drooling over a cousins recent OR acquisition (3X from 70s I believe). It’s been all OR since, and I feel the only style that looks good on me, not quite cowboy, nor fedora. I get compliments on the SB every time I wear it. My Sage was recently upgraded with a wind trolly from Etsy and it matches perfectly, I prefer this for a more formal look.
Anyway that’s my brief background. I’d like to slowly grow a modest collection, although I feel if I had acquired one very nice vintage OR type, I could be satisfied for a while. My favorite hobby is dabbling in music (acoustic guitar and ukulele) and have bought and sold several very, very nice instruments over the years. I’ve come to enjoy keeping what I think is the best and have moved the rest along for others to enjoy (down to 2 guitars and 2 ukes, my wife is happy lol). This is by no means to offend anyone, just my reasoning for only really looking for the best OR I can find with a borderline obnoxious WTB thread.

Not exactly what you are looking for, but close - but a very nice and rare vintage Stetson - take a look.

For the sake of ease and timeliness I have posted it to my Instagram account - Google search Instagram - makitright - there are 10 pictures.

I am a slightly bigger than 7 5/8 guy and this western fedora is a 7 3/4. I can wear it with no problem. It is only slightly loose with nothing under the sweat band. If it was in my rotation I would put one or 2 size reducers under the sweat band.

This hat once belonged to Pennsylvania Governor James H. Duff - who was in office in the late 40's to early 50's. The hat is in perfect condition. Sweat is stitched, supple, and bendable so that you can see the pristine Stetson identification tags underneath it.

It has a 4 inch pencil curled brim - 3/4's of the way around. It is under bound with a 3-line ribbon. The hat band is a 6-ply ribbon. The liner is embroidered with the Stetson cowboy on horse image and the Stetson Nutria name.

This would make a perfect tall crowned OR style fedora if you would trim the brim down to 3 inches - but I cannot bring myself to do that. The felt soft and shapable with some steam or spray. It is only slightly heavier felt when compared to my 40/50's 3X Stetson OR.

Some cool history in this one for sure.

PS - For those interested from a history perspective - Google - Charles L. Tutt Jr. - he was a friend of the Governor according to the man I bought it from.

Just took a look. Anyone willing the cut the brim on that should be............well, I'll leave it at that. Beautiful, rare hat.
