I love Badalssi Carlo leather. They're my favorite tannery after Shinki and have been for quite some times. Sadly both jackets that I've gotten in Badalassi have not worked out for me fit-wise. The hides were absolutely stunning on both in my opinion, but I seemed to be cursed with my Badalassi jackets. Hopefully I can get the right one eventually.

After 2 months of non regular wear (maybe 2-3 hrs per week)

Damn... that's the only cross zip I've ever liked the look of. That pattern is compelling and calm - but with that leather and its luster, it's enough to make a Bishop kick a hole in a stained glass window. Great fit there, Jin.

Thanks Seb! Always liked the bootlegger but Im happy I went with no chest pocket and I think I picked the most appropriate hide for the look I wanted to achieve. This jacket is being trimmed and getting a tan mouton collar at Johnson Leather right now so it should look even better when I get it later in the week.

I can't really say that I prefer Shinki over Badalassi or vice versa.

Here are my Badalassi jackets:

Very impressive. I’d appreciate any pics of the Hercules you’ve got.

I need to add one more thing. As my two Aero Badalassi jackets were made of an older batch at the end of 2018 (I guess around middle of 2019 they decided to re-stock Badalassi), I'm not sure if the Badalassi of the new batches is thinner. If I remember correctly from my discussion with Ken back in 2018, one reason why they didn't offer Badalassi as a regular item before 2019 was the leather thickness. Finally after receiving many inquiries at the beginning of 2019 he finally decided to re-stock the leather (perhaps slightly thinner).

Ken has mentioned in the VLJ forum that since October 2019 they have their Badalassi " "reworked" by a british tannery...so that it's not too thick nor too stiff for most designs".
I own a Badalassi Teamster (November 2019) and the hide is thinner and lighter than any vicenza or FQHH I've handled but quite close to cxl fqhh regarding stiffness.

@Harris HTM Thanks for the additional input. That explains it. My two jackets are in a similar to CXL FQHH in terms of weight and heavier than my Vicenza. I don't think that the leather feels too thick and heaviness of both jackets is just right for my personal taste.

When FL was still offering Badalassi, they received the hides at 1.7 mm thickness. They then had another company skive down the hides to 1.2 / 1.3 mm.

I guess Ken doesn't like the term 'skived', he rather calls it 'reworked'.

Bumping this thread was bad news for my 401k. Still waiting on my first Aero to get made and ought to stay off TFL until then.

I’d love to see these jackets when they’ve accumulated more grain though.

Man! That second pic has me wanting a bootlegger! Tell me we’re the same size and you’re bored with it ;)

I think aside from the HWM and the j106 it is Aeros best patterns. It was originally a size 38 but now a size 36 since I had JL reduce the chest/waist/hem diameter by 2". Thanks man
