Breakfast Surley Supreme.

I have started a leg of lamb over wood coals. This slow roasted meat will be served at our pour at 4:00pm today. A bit later I will coordinate with my neighbor as to what/any alcoholic beverages I should bring. A light fruity whiskey would be a great choice, IMO.

I tip my glass in your direction this morning, Eric -

Best, Eric -

Enjoying the fruits of my road- tripping labor this morning. Day trip down to San Diego to grab this limited release from Duck Foot happened yesterday.

How was the American Stout? American Stout? You have me curious as I have sipped the Duck Foot Turn of Darkness. I got it from a beer friend who I trade beers with. The single can I sipped did get my attention. The 10% Imperial Stout I recorded in my beer notes as one to look for and purchase again.

Looks intriguing and with an interesting label.

Thanks for sharing Ross.

Good afternoon folks.

I took the time to make french press coffee (Caribou Peaberry (seasonal release)) and took a cup in the auto on an errand this morning.

Before 10:00am this morning in the 50-something'f (10+c) weather I had a Deschutes Fresh Squeezed India Pale Ale. The citrus, mosaic hops and and malty flavor is delicious paired with oatmeal and Gooseberry jam.

Beer for breakfast - it is a thing!

That is fascinating. Dill pickles and beer. I like eating dill pickles when sipping beer. But holy hannah, combining it. Vegetable beer...hmmm.

Ok you need to provide a bit of feedback for a dill pickle beer. How was it? Tasty? Drink it again?

I read on the website that "This Dill Pickle Lager was brewed in collaboration with R & R Brewing of Mount Olive, NC! Its a light refreshing lager soaked on dill pickle spears."

Thanks for sharing, Eric -

View attachment 358817 Jack Barrel Proof 134 and the 2 hats I wore today. Early 50s Royal Stetson kept the sun off me at my cousin's funeral this morning...and since I had already blown off work to go to the graveyard I wore the mesh trucker hat to the lake this afternoon to do a little fishing. The cat with no name is photobombing my effort.
Sorry for your loss Dale.

Eric, it really is quite refreshing on a warm day, and a perfect precursor to my traditional Labor Day burgers and franks feast. Deep River uses their flagship lager as the base for several interesting brews. This one has a strong dill pickle flavor that one will either love or hate, depending on one’s affinity for pickles. This is the last of a four pack I purchased, and yes, I will buy it again.

My road tripping last wk took me into the Kiamichi Mountains of OK to visit a friend for six days. Since he had all the rum & liqueurs from a recent family birthday party, one evening we crafted up a cocktail called The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Equal shots of RumChata, Jaegermeister, Rumple Minze German Schnapps, & Goldschlager Swiss Cinnamon Schnapps, on ice. It had been a long time since I had any Jaeger. I'm positive good rum drinkers could recognize the taste of RumChata blindfolded; very good & unique. The German Schnapps was not the peppermint but more of a cooling spearmint which helped to offset the Cinnamon Schnapps. Even so, I cut mine back to about a half shot ea on both Schnapps. This around an outdoor fish fry & crawdad boil. I would have rather just had Tequila.

Sounds like quite a road trip Jack.

This afternoon I am catching up reading some periodicals. Arberlour Casg Annamh was my pairing of choice for my opportunity. When swirled in the cairn glass this whiskey presents molasses, cherries, orange and spice. It is a glorious sip on an early cool September afternoon.

I’d say it’s a winner, very smooth and subtle sweat notes. The album is Trout Mask Replica, and the limited release beer is ‘Stout Mask Replica’. I’m not usually a big stout fan but it is quite tasty. The other pick up from Duck Foot was their coconut IPA, which I’m thoroughly impressed with.

I'm closing out this holiday weekend with some Glenmorangie 18.

Extremely rare! Indeed. Looks tasty and good choice for closing out the Holiday.

Yesterday breakfast was very blackberry. Oatmeal with blackberries and a blackberry beer.

While I congratulated myself on the pairing the beer was not my favorite. It was in the beer frig since last year. Checking my notes I did not like it last year and aging has offered no improvement.

Lunch yesterday was a Deschutes Fresh Squeezed. I picked up a small case of this beer to fill a spot in the beer frig and like it. A solid IPA (not amazing) that has the malt carrying through til the end. It does not have the pine-coney smell or taste of the other Deschutes IPA's. Cool outside temps (high 60'sf) had it being tasty.

Salad and a Deschutes Freshly Squeezed Hazy IPA. The bitterness works with a well with a Ceasar salad w/added Kippers.

Yesterday I started in way too early in the afternoon in a bar when an "appointment" turned out to disappoint me. Then finished the night with some Codigo 1530 Tequila Blanco at home.

Today I have excersized some patience before grabbing a Worth - Walden & heading out for a few KC Bier Co. Dunkels. Another HH now on the books I'm back home probably to finish with more Codigo.

Yesterday evening was started with a Founders All Day IPA. In the cooler evening temps this beer was refreshing.

The evening was my opportunity to open a new bottle of Ardbeg Wee Beastie. Un-tamed with small taste of peat throughout was my take last night. Not a complicated taste that makes for a nice companion to reading newly arrived magazines.
