I posted way back in Dec '12 (pg 39) about the problems with a new pair of Wesco engineers and I just thought I'd update with what I've done since then.
I ordered the boots originally with black roughout leather, brass buckles, undyed midsoles, standard engineer heel and a square toe. When I...
The biggest problem with the half sole for a motorcycle boot is the exposed leather portion of the sole. Sooner or later you will ride in the rain and if you ride a cruiser in the typical easy chair position, your soles are right in the line of the water coming from the road and your front...
That's strange, I googled it and got 31,500 explanantions. What it is, is a cotton/flannel material that is formed to the desired shape and then soaked in glue or solvent which hardens it. It is used because it is cheaper, faster, less bulky, less expensive, and easier to use then doing...
I have a stock pair of Wesco engineers that I bought five or six years ago that do have a well-shaped heel cup. In fact when you put them on you have to give a little extra pull to "pop" your heel that last little bit past the heel cup into the bottom of the boot. They fit perfectly and can...
After my recent experience with Wesco, I might be tempted to go with the $80 imported engineer boots, too. I decided I wanted a pair of Viberg engineers, with their stylish 310 last, but could not get any response from them until I complained on their blog. When I did get a response, it was in...
That one is just a cheapo boot as is obvious from the website picture. Three out of their last four mail order catalogs have shown the Red Wing engineer lookalike boot, but it has the same stock number as the wellington. So beware.
Everyone is different in how things fit. I spent a few hundred on a made in USA Harley-Davidson D pocket jacket, assuming that since nearly all jackets today are 26" in length that that length would be OK for my average height........NOT!
It is far too long and looks especially ridiculous...
I think your hybrid is a nice-looking jacket, barely different from the Buco, but I prefer the shorter fit of a classic motorcycle jacket. If you make the jacket very long it will bunch up uncomfortably when riding a motorcycle, especially when made of Aero's heavy horsehide.
Both jackets in...
Did the Harley Panhead jacket with removeable sleeves ever have a D pocket? The one that came out in the '90s didn't. There's an old '50s horsehide Harley D pocket jacket on ebay right now that the seller labels a panhead jacket, but I'm not sure Harley used the term panhead even for the...
Most waist-length jackets end up being actually half-ass length. In other words, way too long. Those fit exactly the way that style should. Plus the sleeve length and shoulder fit looks perfect too. Very nice style jacket.
My two favorites are "Point Break" and "Near Dark". The first is the movie that made Keanu Reeves a bankable star rather than just a stoner, and the second is the best, most stylish vampire movie ever made. The roadhouse scene is unforgettable. Ms. Bigelow has a directing style all her own...
