It is. The brim is 2 3/8. They may have cut down the hat he wears on the show.

Hello all, I recently purchased a circa 1936 Dobbs fur felt homburg. The leather sweatband itself is fine, but the stitching holding it in place has failed. Can the original be reattached, or must it be replaced?

My new baby. A vintage Dobbs homburg with it's original hatbox. The hat itself is in beautiful condition, although it needs a good cleaning and a new sweatband. The box has seen better days. Hmm. Yachting hats appear to be just a standard US military peaked cap with the stiffening frame removed, ala the 50 mission crush cap from the Army Air Corps. If that's correct this will wind up being a lot easier than I hoped.

I saw them. I'm looking for a navy cap but really don't like the look of the applied patch on Midway's hats. Still, it looks like I'm going to have to compromise.

I just saw the prices. Dear Lord! An awful lot of money for something that was being made as recently as 2011!

Thanks all. The yachting caps used on Gilligan's island were made by Lancaster Hat Company. All the places i've found no longer stitch the goldwork directly to the cover, as was done classically, but use an applied patch. I may have to go vintage for this to get the right look.

Does anyone make a decent yachting cap since the Lancaster Hat Company closed?
