Although not a fedora, Akubra just came out with the Traveller, a genuine 100% fur felt crushable hat. I just got one last week and I am quite impressed. The felt quality is excellent, as usual for Akubra. Since it is crushable it has no liner and a padded fabric sweat instead of leather. In my...
The lampshade trick is to wet the inside of the sweatband (the rough side, not the side that touches yer noggin) and then place the hat on top of a lamp. The idea is that the heat from the lightbulb dries the leather and it shrinks. Be careful not to leave it on too long, since it might shrink...
I too can vouch for Steve...I have one of his 100% beaver Indy lids that is absolutely top notch. Now I don't have an Optimo or GH to compare it to, but I can say it blows all my Akubras and my Keppler 6x out of the water. At his price, it's a steal. On top of that, he's a great guy to deal...
Well, since I got my Adventurebilt Indy Fedora a couple weeks ago and it's taken up permanent residence on the ole' noggin, I've decided it's time to thin out the collection. All of these hats are in excellent or mint condition and come in their original boxes. They have spent a lot of time on...

Whew I was watching these hats too, because it's rare anything vintage comes up on ebay in my size. Maybe that had something to do with it too, you don't see many larger sizes like 7 1/2 or 5/8.
The T3 does have a nice wide brim, and if you like you can snap either side up for that Aussie look.
For really good sun protection, the T4 is the way to go. It has a very wide downward sloping brim in front and back to protect the face and neck, a little narrower on the sides but plenty to...
I'll add my vote for Tilley hats, I have both a T3 and T5 and they're great. I plan on taking my T5 to Kauai in August, but looking at your pics makes me want to leave tomorrow!
One of the things I like about my T5 is that it has a dark green underbrim, which cuts down on glare out on the...
