Hello, fedoracentric. I own a Knox 100 with the case, in your size, (7 1/8). The problem is that I don't know whether I am ready to part with it. I also own a Cavanagh 100 and a Stetson 100 with case. The Knox is the best of the three. Did you have a price in mind? It is nearly perfect.

Alan, I thought I'd give you an update. This Montecristi ranks waaay up there on my list of eBay bargains. The WPI is 1000+ and the best part of it is that the weave is soo uniform throughout!! The hat has no damage whatsoever, just that attractive age patina. It is still soft and not dried...

Alan, it should be arriving tomorrow. I will let you know its actual size. I am hoping the seller was very inaccurate in measuring it but its too much to hope for a 7 1/8. Will have to learn how to get photos on this site to share my good fortune.

WOW! That may never happen again. I've seen empty cases sell for more than that. A nearly perfect one with case, keys and insert sold for $640. the last week or two.

I would think late '70s or early '80s. I have one with the same liner and sweatband from Worth & Worth, in NYC. They were still making a great hat in those days.

I guess that's true but I do have several 7 3/8 Stetsons that I fished out of the Bay. Perhaps you should give the Penman hat Co. a try. There's a thread on this forum which is very positive on John Penman's hats, and is particularly positive about his turnaround time and customer service...
