Photographs Of Hats Fresh From Surviving The Elements

There hasn't been sunshine in maybe two weeks. I would have expected a lot more action in this thread because of that (so maybe it's just too depressing to post wet hats?) Had to do a walk-through on a misting morning in my Major Moore Buckaroo. One good thing about wet hats is you can fine...

What is the hat in the 3rd picture? Very nice. Looks exactly like my Gannon modified Big Four.

    Red Wing Roughneck Advice

I missed that your post was a month ago. You are moving fast in building a boot collection. I have no particular opinion about the cotton toebox lining yet, though I too would have preferred all leather. Good luck and happy feet with the new boots.

    Red Wing Roughneck Advice

I just got the Iron Rangers in copper rough and tough today (strapped on my feet to begin break-in as I type). I have nothing useful to offer in this discussion other than to say a few years ago the Roughnecks were offered in the No. 8 last (same last as IR and Blacksmiths). How I wish they...

What is going on with this site???

I almost wonder if the whole site is about to reset. IOW, all posts and pictures (yikes) will get deleted and everything will start again at square one. I hope not. Maybe I'm just feeling apocalyptic

What is going on with this site???

I am guessing that, as a vintage hat/apparel sight, we shouldn't really demand modern connection speed. Gotta surf like it's the 1960s ARPANET and we are the privileged few who get to be online

If you find you are not getting the results you want with steam (I'm not good with steam) use a spray bottle (better control to protect the ribbon a bit) with distilled water and give the crown and brim a good soaking. This will keep the felt malleable for much longer than steam. Felt hats are...

The past week or so, this forum has been running like it's being served on dial-up. WTF (what the fedora)?

Where do you hang your hat?

Simple but effective. Maybe this belongs in the hats and drinks thread as each post is topped with a whiskey bottle cork top. With 7 posts, I guess you can call this a "Days of the week" hat rack.

That seems like a waste of a good brim. Might as well wear the "Sherlock Holmes" hat.

    Show us their hats!

Sad fact. I don't get by there as much anymore. It's my hometown but not my current town. Fun fact. One of my middle school teachers wrote a book (published while I was in his class) about the Reno Gang. "The Masked Halters" Edwin Boley. 1977.

    Show us their hats!

I have crossed the railroad tracks at Hangman's Crossing in Seymour more times than I can count.
