    Syphons and "charged water"

I know the thread is old but just wanted to say that BOC are still around and delivering gas of various types! They deliver O2 to the ambulance station I work from. Wonder if they still do syphon stuff?

mustard's no good without roast beef

Being English the only term for sausage maker I know would be a "butcher". To be called a sausage it most contain a certain percentage of meat. "Bangers" as far as I know are not subject to this rule. Usually a sausage contains breadcrumbs and occasionally herbs and spices to and flavour.

A new guy with an Indy hat question....

Well £50 is about $100 so it's even. That was with shipping to the UK so I didn't think it too bad. Still we're used to paying a little more for things than you guys over there! I'm very happy with my hat and it suits me - goes very well with my tux for lodge nights! M

A new guy with an Indy hat question....

I got my 'Indy' hat from ebay, a fur felt official indy hat cost me about £50. Silk lined, leather sweat band and very well made. Wear mine all the time! I'd be happy to pm you the name of the trader I bought off.

Is the suit relevant in your life?

Work provide my uniform which is a lovely bottle green shirt trouser thing for the ambulance service. I won't scare you with pictures! Thankfully I get to wear a proper suit at least twice a month at lodge and once a month I get to wear my tux to lodge and have now gone back to a proper tie...

    The "Two Martini Lunch"

When I worked as a network engineer we used to enjoy a couple of pints at lunchtime. This rose to three during the dot-com boom (walked to work). Fell back to one or two when that bubble burst and we had to earn our keep! I work on the ambulances now and as such it's a BIG no no to drink at...

    Do you own a Tux?

Having lurked on this excellent board for some time I recon I should start to make more of a contribution. A couple of years back I was invited to a black tie do at the local freemasons. I duly rented a standard tux and had a great evening. A year later I found myself joining the masons and...

    That'll Teach Me...

'gifts' Just to chuck my 2d in - 'gift' means nothing to the UK Customs and Excise! They do not care what purpose the item is for, simply that it has the correct duty and tax paid. You are just as likely to pay up on a gift as not. The way I look at it is that I've 'got away with it' more...

    Is this for real?

Caveat Emptor? I don't want to quote eBay and I dispise people that trick others out of money but surely no one held a gun to these bidder's heads? The auction looks like the seller struck lucky and got a genuine set of "I'm not being outbid" bidders who stopped bidding on the hat and started...

$1000.00 Montecristi for a Ten Dollar Bill

An excellent idea I always find it refreshing when I see folk doing nice things for people they are probably never going to meet - restores your faith in humanity! Keep up the good work - just bought my ticket :-) M

To Tilt or Not to Tilt...That is the Question!

I must admit that I'm still learning as it were. I try to square up when I'm putting my hat on. The past couple of days I've tried not to think about it too much in an atempt to get a more 'used to this' look. I'm still concerned that I've not got the right size of hat. Mine sits quite...

    Custom Topper?

Faux Silk A google reveals the following: http://www.silkdirect.com.au/silktrader/faux_silk.cfm I think we could probably say the faux silk is a posh term for satin (which I have nothing against!)
