    On yer bike!

Velo-Orange.com was having a garage sale today to clean out odds and ends from their warehouse. As I live nearby I was able to pick up a nice VO leather saddle for $35. I guess it has a few scuffs that caused them to not be able to sell it full retail. I also picked up some leather handlebar...

Slouch Hats - the Old, the New, and the Sentimental

Man I haven't been on here in ages! I'm here now because I finally have a slouch of my own! Since you seem to be knowledgeable on these may I be so bold as to ask some advice? The hat in question is a Mountcastle from 1991. Sweatband is vinyl, brim edge is banded and the chin strap seems to be...

    Show us your Guns!

How many have poked their ceiling with a Mosin-Nagant bayonet because you just had to fix the bayonet to "see how it looked" ? Matt

Golden Era Things You've Revived Or Repaired For Use

Hmmm. I'll have to take a look at that company. There is a need on older woodworking machinery to redo rubber rollers like on large belt sanders and the such. I might have to pass that onto a large forum of antique woodworking machinery people. Thanks Matt

    Uniform questions?

Thanks for the replies. My wife has picked up the uniforms, big heavy box stuffed full with pants, shirts and tunics. She hasn't had a chance to go through them. They reportedly have mildew on them though. My first thought was to take the entire lot to the dry cleaners, any other ideas on simple...

    On yer bike!

Here's some pics from a few years ago at Strasburg Railroad in Pennsylvania. The bikes are all KilroyCD's. I don't recall bringing one of my bikes out to that event. Matt

    Air force Over coat

Is there a market for early USAF uniforms? I've been stockpiling whatever I find. I have pants, shirts, tunics, about a dozen ties, a few saucer and flat caps. An overcoat or two I also have an Air Force bush jacket and an Air Force "Ike" jacket. Both are to my knowledge pretty rare. I also have...

    ruined 1940s uniform

Ike jackets, particularly in smaller sizes aren't exactly a hot market item. But as it's family you might want to do something a bit different. Do you have his dog tags or any papers? A shadow box with swatches from the jacket that have the patches combined with any other heirlooms might make a...

    Uniform questions?

So I am buying this grouping I found on Craig's List: http://annapolis.craigslist.org/clo/4340591419.html According to the seller they were her fathers and he served Active Duty in Korea in the 50's and left the Reserves in the 90's. The second from the right certainly looks like a belted...

Amazing opportunity for UK Loungers later this year.

I remember several years ago the Canadian Lancaster was scheduled to appear at the Geneseo, NY air show. It was a pretty big deal the aircraft was on the cover of the show program. Then they cancelled fairly near the event. Concerns about the grass field and also the weather, rain the week prior...

Home is where the Kitchen is

Be careful with that refrigerator. Refrigerants prior to Dupont developing R-12 "Freon" fell into one of two (or sometimes both) categories. Toxic and Flammable. Chances are your refrigerator contains R-12. The tag should indicate that. Freon was patented and began commercial use at the end of...

Home is where the Kitchen is

GHT, I think your kitchen looks excellent. It's very much in the vein of how I hope to do the one in my next house. Though I'll be going with blue/turquoise/aqua and white instead of red. The cabinets look great, the pulls a tad modern for my taste. The counter also looks to be a bit modern...

    Any Tips on safari outfit?

I wonder if the shell pockets and shoulder padding are functional or only decorative? I wouldn't hesitate to spend the money if those were real features, then I could enjoy wearing the jacket when I'm shooting. But if they are decoration then it's just unnecessary weight on the jacket. Matt
