Got this in from the bay, couldn’t resist , I’ve seen a few Montgomery wards hats that were very good, this one feels almost as good as my real nutria Stetson, 2” sweat has fallen out completely but I think I’ll get restored and wearable. 3 7/8” brim and 6 1/2” crown, says “San Frall quality”...

Here’s the other hat I can post on this thread but that’s all I got. Picked this one up last year. 7 1/2” crown and 5” brim, have only wore it a few times, Wore it to the rodeo. my wife is wearing a Dobbs twenty, probably 40s or early 50s not sure.

As suggested here I did not trim the brim but I did Curl it and give it a little swing, plus, i found positive ID. From a 1936 Visalia catalog, matches price and store. It’s a San All Special

I find the dark colored hats are not easy to wear this one looks great

I think you're right Alan, it appears someone started to renovate the hat a long time ago and didn't finish, I think the original tag says 7 1/2 but it's not anywhere near that size now. ---and nice to meet you guys, amazing stuff here and I wish I would've known sooner, there should be some...

I forgot to post it! Took a photo because I wanted to pull the sweatband back only once! Was somewhat supple but didn’t like doing it.

Ok here’s more pics of my 4x7 Stetson , perhaps a Carlsbad but I’m not sure if the Carlsbad came in this color. I also wonder how much these old hats have changed color over time.

very true , especially being a bound edge I don't think I can cut it down, it has one messed up spot on the binding which I can fix with some fine thread. thanks y'all

ALSO wanted y'alls input on cutting the brim down a 1/4" to 3/8" and then putting a pencil roll on it so it's overall width is about 3 1/4" - that way I would actually wear it, I'm afraid as it is now it'll just end up in the box not getting used.
