    What do you look like?

    Taken earlier this year during my flight on Aluminum Overcast, the EAA's B-17G:<p> <a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b382/Rick_Kaumeier/Rick_B17.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>

Time for another "what book are you reading?" thread...

I didn't see the series, but after a quick perusal of Amazon.com it's certain that I'll be reading this series. Thanks for posting this!

    Vacuum tubes

A couple more links: Radio Daze is a great compliment to Antique Electronics Supply. If AES doesn't have it, Radio Daze often will and vice-versa. http://www.radiodaze.com/ One of my favorite antique radio discussion sites are the Antique Radio Forums at http://antiqueradios.com/forums/...

Time for another "what book are you reading?" thread...

Eleanor of Aquitaine by Alison Weir. I just finished Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett, and this is a natural follow-up to Follett's fascinating novel of cathedral building, political scheming, and religion in the 12th century. I have been captivated by both books and highly recommend them.

Where do FL readers stand on tattooing?

I've never seen a tattoo design that I like enough to have it made a permanent part of my body, but I don't at all mind seeing them on others. A Navy buddy had an extraordinarily well done tat of an eagle fighting with a bear. The detail was magnificent. He got that while stationed aboard the...

Sentimental Journey to old 8th AAF airfields in England

More hints, please, Zemke Fan! If only an 8th AAF version of "Band of Brothers" could be made.

    EXchange names for phone numbers

Southeast Michigan was still using telephone exchanges into the 60s. Our number was YUkon 26831. I don't remember when Michigan Bell stopped using the old exchange system, but when my folks sold their old house in the mid 80s the Western Electric wall mount phone still had the old YUkon 26831...

Always Coca-Cola? Ain't Nothin' Like The Real Thing!

No need for an apology. That was fascinating, and I enjoyed reading it.

Always Coca-Cola? Ain't Nothin' Like The Real Thing!

On my last trip to Miami, I found the violet mints on the candy shelves of many Cuban grocery stores. I had never seen them before and was intrigued enough to try a pack. They're GOOD!

    Golden Age careers

Given the thrist a typical sailor works up during his on-duty time, it's a good bet I'd run into you while out on liberty. ;) First round is on me! -Zepp

    Golden Age careers

Having just visited the "What's Your Racket?" thread, I started wondering yet again what I'd be doing to earn my keep had I lived 70 years ago. I can see myself joining the Navy after graduation from high school, just as I really did in the 70s. The sea service even then was already a family...

What do you do for Living?

I'm an airline ground school instructor for a low-cost carrier. I teach Airbus systems, FAA and company regs, and new hire first officer classes for pilots. My previous jobs were: an avionics tech at the same airline Motorola field service technician government contract...

Mysterygal Comes to See The Boss

Wonderful pictures, MK. The lighting and color is superb. Ditto Hemingway Jones - the feel is very noir. A couple black and white shots would round out the set nicely.

Am I the only hat wearer in Southeast Missouri ???

I don't mind ballcaps so much, it's the wearer insisting that the bill point any direction but forward. If that particular look is out in California, it's only a matter of time until it percolates through the rest of the country. That couldn't come soon enough for me! -Zepp

    Packrat produces headphones!

Outstanding! I've been keeping my eyes open for a good HS-33 headset to use with my WWII vintage Army Air Forces BC-348 receiver. They turn up on the ePlace from time to time, some still unissued in original packaging. I sure wish that I had thought to snap up more of the war surplus...
