inspired by everyone's sewing magic, I finally got around to making something to wear!!

I call this my Fedora Friends Frock because the pattern was a gift from Cherry Bubbles and the red skull bandana print was a gift from Blondie.

Pattern is Anne Adams 4799, size 44, with no mods at all except I left off the side zipper (hi, i'm lazy). The collar (or "revers" as it was called) was a colossal hassle to get that nice point at the bottom. next time I'll construct it differently.

I wore this last night to the last blues show/dance of the season and received a ton of compliments from men and women. I'll definitely make another one - i'm thinking gingham with white pockets and eyelet trim.

Love the red and black Inky! nothing like a little help from your friends...

Kamikat the butterfly print is awesome.

I finally had enough practice in to attempt a vintage pattern. No resizing, I risked using it as it was (a 30 bust) because it was a wrap, and it doesn't have to fit my shoulders (which are a mile wide). The pattern is all spirographs, and I have enough left over to make at least a shirt!

It's supposed to have double-fold bias tape around the neck, but I can't get it to follow the curves of the shoulder ties. Any suggestions on what to use instead? The curve is quite sharp, and I don't want to use a million little pieces of tape...

Sugar Kitten-that dress is adorable. I think for a sharp turn you have to miter the edges. Not sure I spelled that right. I usally avoid avoid using binding where mitering is required. I did it once though.

Inky-Love that dress and the way you centered the sculls on the pockets. So cute.

Kamikat- I love both verions you have made of that dress.

We must have had a similar wavelength or something cause I sewed up my Victory hat pattern from that same skull bandana fabric yesterday! lol

Here's my latest quickie project. Used vintage fabric for this gored skirt (160" sweep) with wide-waistband and back zip. Simple, easy piece but fun to wear! Ya know, it's all about the crinoline with me!

Thanks, CherryRed. I used the waistband from Hollywood 1898, and the skirt from Simplicity 4295. I wanted the wide waist to slim the tummy, but also wanted to maximize the skirt width (so I wouldn't have any fabric leftover and could wear it with the crinoline). So now I've drafted up new pieces (because I drastically shortened the skirt) and have a really great pattern! Someday I'll make the dress as it though. I love those scallops!

So I made this dress (on the left) a few weeks ago and never posted it because I never got pictures of it. But I wore it this past weekend to a reenactment and oddly enough this is still the only picture that anyone took of it... I'll try harder next time!!! I got the pattern from someone around here but I can't remember whom at this point in time (I blame grad school...)

More of a salvage really. I bought this dress at the thrift store and the bodice was unwearable so I removed it made a new one of black velvet, tied in the skirt by adding the bias trim and here it is !
