I was watching Hannibal earlier today and was admiring the style of Hopkin's character Lecter and noticed his nice Panama hat. I thought I would google around for a pic of it and come to this article:

I like how they compare that funky-looking souvenir beach hat to the nice panama he wears in the movie. He may have been psycho, but at least he did it with style right?? lol

I'm starting to feel inspired to get a nice panama. All the ones I have are cheap and have completely lost their shape.

Oooh, that beach hat is so scary. A man that wears something like that might do anything. Perhaps invite you to dinner? "No, don't bother to bring anything, just bring yourself."

Actually I have several older cheap Panamas, some that have been worn a bit over the years - one planter-style cuenca purchased at a department store years ago in particular - and contrary to expectations they're all in fine shape. Or as a friend says, "I plan to live forever. So far, so good."
