Any Loungers have one? I'm looking for a straw for the summer months, didn't really want a Polystraw, would much rather a natural fibre, but also wanted a crushable & water resistant lid, so Polystraw it is.
Was very taken with this:

Yes, it's cheap, it's not a 'real' straw, and it's probably made in China, but it's meant to be a 'go anywhere hat'.
If anyone out there has one may I have their opinions?

I havn't got one but i have similar hats, they are good, they feel a little coarse/plastically compared to plain straw but durable with nice ventilation.

interesting name they have chosen for their company! Wallaroo happens to be the name of a town just north of Adelaide, not a bad fishing spot and part of the old copper triangle (mining). an enterprising bloke bought the land in the 1850's and became rich from copper mining, after hearing the Aborigines using the phrase Wadlu Waru to the settlers it sounded like it should be spelt Walla Waroo (later shortened to just Wallaroo) so he named his land after that

i wonder if they know where that word comes from and what it means! and if they did would they still have named their hats after it :eusa_doh: ...it means Wallaby urine lol lol lol lol i guess that should keep the sun off but might attract more fly's lol lol

Thank you gentlemen. I hope to have this within one week, so I'll give a short review some time soon. I know some of the purists here may shudder at the thought of such a lid, but I must stress that it's intended as a field hat in a scorching hot, humid and dusty environment, i.e. the Middle East. Maybe there's a good quality Panama out there that could stand this, but personally I would be worried that that these conditions (and my carelessness) would wreck it, so something like this with a wide brim for shade and the fact that it can be hand washed at the end of the day seems to fit the bill. Plus it's not breaking the bank either.

P.S. Chippy- Wallaby urine?? Do you think we should tell them? Thank you for that, it's true that we live and learn! I had thought that the word was simply an amalgam of 'Wallaby' and 'Kangaroo' - maybe they'll give you a new hat if you promise to keep quiet? ;)
