Been a fan of 'Mrs Miniver' since I was knee-high and saw it on my Granny's TV many years ago. The Dunkirk scene in 'Atonement' managed to convey the sense of chaos (what about that long continuous 'take' that pans round the beach? Must have taken weeks to rehearse!). And the '58 movie 'Dunkirk' with John Mills, Bernard Lee and Richard Attenborough is pretty good too, but somehow doesn't seem to have stood the test of time quite so well as the (older) Mrs Miniver.
