Thank you crwritt!
Can you tell I'm new to vintage patterns? Gosh I'm on this Alfred Shaheen kick right now but don't know much about clothing construction so I thought maybe if I can start with a pattern I'll better understand how the sarong dress is put together. Anyway thanks for correcting me!
I have this one

ok I'm looking for a 1940s shirt dress pattern. I have no numbers but I'm willing to take suggestions on what to look for from anyone that's made one and liked a pattern... I'd love a trashy diva dress but I just graduated grad school and am broke so I figure I know how to sew, I'll make one like that... So any help on pattern numbers and or willingness to sell me a pattern (I'm a vintage 18) would be greatly appriciated!!!

Judging by the photo it seems it would be pretty easy to replicate with a pattern for a boat-neck top, and one for a full skirt

Do you have a picture of the pattern envelope?

Sort of... there's a picture in a book I own, I'll try to track it down online!

Edit: this is the only picture I can find, I think it's a photo from the book I've got.

I am in love with shirtwaists!

I love, love, love this dress from Trashy Diva, but it would cost me $150 with shipping and all. I am not inclined to pay that much for a rayon dress when I could make one myself.

Does anyone have suggestions for a pattern to get this look? I have been looking for a WWII era shirtwaist day dress pattern, but haven't found just what I want. If you happen to spot one in a 38 bust, even better, but just the pattern name and number for now, then I can go hunting.

I have these from a lot that I got off of ebay, I stink at resizing and don't plan on using them. If any of these will work I can just send it to you, I think you can see the sizes in the pics.

There are also plenty of shirtwaist dress patterns on etsy if you just search 40s pattern.. Or were they not what you're looking for? :/

I'm digging simple (casual) late 40s/early 50s dresses right now and I'd love something like this (or the same pattern in a vintage size 18):

I don't know anything about this pattern though one can guess on a few details thanks to the handwriting... but I would love to have it

this one at least has its info

and this one was from the cover of the book but the pattern must exist somehow... right?

Has anyone tried this repro pattern from Scissorhappy?
sarong.jpg

I'm quite tempted, but would like a review, or at least a picture of it
made up, preferably in a larger size.

Help!
I just fell madly in love with a suit (from etsy):

il_fullxfull.150846937.jpg

And since I can neither afford nor squeeze myself into it I'm planning on sewing a suit based on the one above. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find any suits in a size 18 or 20 tht could work for this :(
I've never sewn a suit before and I'm a terrible grader, so it should be the right size and have a pretty high neckline.
Does anyone have a pattern in her stash that could work (and is willing to sell the pattern or a copy of it)? Or do you know a pattern on sale somewhere that could work? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Crwritt,

I do have this pattern (and the original) in my stash and I am using the largest size. Perhaps I will try and get off my lazy butt and make this this summer. I will report back.

I would cry if I ever cut a vintage pattern, so I get the thin plastic drop "cloth" for painting and trace the pattern. that way I can resize if need be and share with my sister :D
