Has anybody tried one of these? I was thinking about ordering one. I wear a William Powell-style "Thin Man" moustache, and am not happy with the lack of closeness my modern razors give me. I also want to try a safety razor, but I'm afraid they'd be too large to do the delicate work under my nose.

I'd really like to know what Powell used back in the '30s!

Product review:

I ordered one of these from www.classicshaving.com, along with some Musgo shaving cream and their brand of shaving soap. I almost ordered the 24k gold-plated razor, but decided it was too ostentatious for me, and went with the nickel-plated version.

This tiny razor was exactly what I've been needing. It gave me a clean, close shave, and allowed for fine, precise work. One blade side is 1/4-inch, the other is 5/8-inch, and worked great. I haven't been able to get a close shave like that with a regular razor. If anybody needs a razor for maintaining a thin moustache or working around a goatee, this is the perfect tool.

I really like the closeness of the shave I got from this safety razor. When I can afford it, I'm going to order a regular-size Merkur Safety Razor and a good badger brush.

Actually, I've been shaving for years with the Gillette Sensor.

Oh yeah, sorry. I think it was MK who said he uses an electric.

So, can you shave your whole face with this razor, or do you still use the Sensor, and this one for the "fine" work?

Yeah, that was MK, wasn't it?

Well, I suppose I could shave my whole face with it, but it would take quite a while. I was surprised by how small this thing is, only about three inches long. Even the 5/8" side would take some time. So I just reserve it for the fine work, and use the Sensor for everything else.
