Well, Swirl-type patterns are in demand and half sizes are unusual. I would say that's on the higher end of normal for a 60's pattern, but not outrageously so. We've all complained about the general price of vintage things going up. When I first started collecting patterns, that would have been considered overpriced, but it's not uncommon these days to see patterns with starting bids of over $30 and BIN prices well over $50.crwritt said:

OMG!! I own a swirl dress, and until I read this thread didn't realize how coveted they were. Iv yet to wear mine tho becuase for some reason I can't figure out how to wrap it around with out it looking bulky in the back

I'm going to try and explain it: If you are looking at the dress from the back, the long tie up bit attached to the right goes under the back/left side and through the hole and wraps round the front, then the left hand tie goes across the lower back and round the front, depending on how big it is on you, you may have a fold of material at the back but you should be able to adjust the fabric when you pull it tighter. You now just have to decide whether you want to tie it and the front or back! They used to come with instructions...

Thank you for this! I found two Swirls at the flea market this morning (I'll try to photograph them for this thread!) and could not figure out how to get the backs to look nice. I'll definitely try tying them this way!

Oh how silly I feel, I totally forgot to put the strap through the hole on the side :eusa_doh: So I tried it on again and this time it looked smooth and clean in the back. I post pics soon when I get around to it, Thank you ladies.

Here's my Swirl. I've only just realised that the pattern on it is of celery! My boyfriend overheard a lady saying, 'look at her lovely dress, how unusual, a celery print'. He told me and sudden realisation hit me and I exclaimed 'Oh yeah...celery!' I thought they were little trees...!

Oh my gosh, YesterdayGirl! That is my dream dress. As if the celery print wasn't enough, I adore the triangle pattern around the neckline and on the pockets! You look great in it.

This Swirl is my all time favorite. I got it NOS and it fits me perfectly. You'll have to settle for Sabrina modeling it.
I wear this dress at least a few times a month during the Chicago summer. It's so easy to wear. I love Swirl dresses!
I sold my other favorite Swirl on eBay. It was bubble gum pink with a black butterfly print and cut-outs on the neckline. I blew-out the armpits a bit and fixed them. Don't wear your Swirl playing a cards when it's one of those speed games where you have to frantically reach across the table in order to win! (I can't find the photos of pinky, but it was a difficult decision to sell that one.)
