I can't take any credit for the "poetry" since they're lyrics to a Pink Floyd song. I heard the song and remembered how much I liked her music. First time I heard We'll Meet Again was at the end of a Stanley Kubrick's Dr. Stranglove or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb.

I loved the positive beat of the song and the imagrey of utter nuclear destruction. Wonderful!

What you might want to know is...

It takes some time before some of the members see your post... and have something to say to it... time my friend, time! Trust me, I've started some threads that I thought would catch on... they don't but, some one finds it months later and then it catches fire! It's weird!

You may want to give some more info on Vera... what she has to do with WWII and what you're thinking of... a thread has to have a good solid foundation to strike a conversation.

I remember Vera Lynn and her song stands alone as the most popular song during WW2. My mum and dad were married during WW2 and there favourite song was Harbour Lights. I believe she tours sometimes in Australia. I meant most popular in Commonwealth countries.

I have a great duet of Lili Marlene with Vera Lynn and Marlene Dietrich, but then I found out it was done digitially. I don't know if they ever actually sang together or not, but it's a great version. I was pretty disappointed to learn it was not original.

I really like Vera Lynn's work, but some of her pre-war stuff is pretty raw. I have a few tracks that are just organ and her from the early 30s. Her voice is great but the arrangement is...lacking.
