I've looked for a thread similar to this, but I couldn't find any, but if I am wrong, point me to it.

Do you ladies like pomade in men's hair?

I for one do not at all like it, but then again I like military types, so they don't really have enough hair for any type of product.

I know this is the Powder Room, but how convenient for this thread to come up. I am actually contemplating a purchase of Brylcreem, which I believe is a sort of pomade. Perhaps it doesn't float everyone's boat, to each their own opinion. I personally like the idea of sporting "the wet look" that was so common prior to the 1970s, before it had been supplanted by "the dry look."

lol Brylcreem is nasty, my grandpa used that stuff. this was a long time ago mind you, but it had a funky smell and was disgusting if you touched it. that and it just didn't look good it didn't look "wet" it looked gunked up and greasy. oh wait that's exactly what brylcreem does :D

I agree with you Grant Fan, military types are kinda hot

I love the classic Elvis length hair on men, so preferably no pomade.... so i can run my fingers thru it. Pomade seems to get sticky n messy ;)

I like pomade in a guy's hair - I like the way it looks (like old time movie stars) but I am not one for running my fingers through men's hair so it works for me.

Actually the Inland Empire in sunny California, but thank you for the welcome! I agree with CLEAN!

Bryl is not a pomade. Like Brisk it´s a hair cream.
You can get Bryl also made in Indonesia, which styles your hair a bit more solid. If you wanna talk about Pomade, talk about Dax, Nu Nile, Sweet Georgia Brown and Murray´s e.g. ;)

I've got a "thing" for hair and hair products so I do love my man's hair to be pomaded and "untouchable"!! I call it "Devo Hair" -- lol , because it looks plastic. I LOVE that look. Perfectly sculpted hair gets me every time.;)

I like touchable hair, so it's a no from me. I love guys with long brushable hair that I can stroke...maybe i should be thinking about geting a cat instead!:)

My boy knows better than to try and run his fingers through my perfectly coiffed hair and I show equal respect for his pomaded quiff :)
If either one of us has freshly-washed unstyled hair then the other gets to have a stroke but the rest of the time it's hands off - it's the price you pay for perfect vintage hair! And Elvis's hair was COVERED in pomade wasn't it?!

Just enough pomade to keep it in place, not so it's horrendous and gloopy! I like men with styled hair though, and I always send my boyfriend to his gentleman barber equipped with a picture of Robert Donat.

I am also a fan of the touchable hair. And my husband is a big fan of the scalp massage, so he isn't about to do anything to his hair that will put me off.

I adore the smell of clean boy hair with a liberal application of Trumper's pomade. Preferably in a 30s style short back and sides (which of course necessitates pomade). Swoon! Not in the least bothered about touchability!

A resounding no from me. I don't like product in my own hair and even less on men. I like it either long and freshly washed or too short for products, no spikes or greasy or sticky stuff and no chemical smells.

well said, Miss Hannah! I agree - we don't do any hair touching. The downside to pomade on his hair was a big stain on my sofa - but it came out and now I can use all those antimacassars I've collected!
