Here is the description the seller listed:

This is a vintage Dobbs Fifth Avenue New York men's fur felt fedora, size 7-1/8 with the original box. I believe it is circa 1950's. The inside of the hat reads Dobbs Fifth Avenue New York, Dobbs Fifteen with the Stagecoach emblem, Ware Pratt Co. Quality Corner Worcester, Mass also Guild Edge in a crest, and has the letters ENA. I inherited this along with items from my Great Uncle's estate. This hat does have some age wear, not noticeable when worn. It has some very small moth nibbles, although one nice feature is the box and the hat does not have a bad smell, there is a very small hole in the lining, also does have some age discoloration in the lining. The box is intact, both lid and bottom, but does have age wear mostly along the cardboard edges. The hat is light taupe in color, with an approximate 2-1/2" brim and a crown height of 5".

So... Any thoughts?

It looks really nice in the picture. I considered bidding on it myself, but the mention of "moth nibbles" always gives me pause.

F. G. M. Försterhut

Heather green F. G. M. Försterhut, size 57 (fits like long oval 58cm). The tapered crown is about 6 inches open and the felt ribbon close to 3 inches. Probably late 1950s early 1960s. I found this in an antique shop.

Modern Mayser Lario Sisol, size 59cm, silver - gray. Very light weight. Perfect for heavy heat and humidity. By the way Mayser still does nice bow work.

2manyhats, how about a picture wearing the hat? It looks like a low crown and well proportioned. Congratulations on the find.

Prreeeeesenting...my first...REAL hat!

No more cheap, straw or cotton trilbies for me! A true, rabbit-fur felt trilby made by Akubra. Made in Australia, by Australians from Australian pests. Looking stylish and helping the environment never felt so good!

It was a 23rd birthday present from my parents (my 23rd being this Saturday).
