For me it has always been about the music, always had the appreciation but now definatley the style. I'm 24 and it started off with Johnny Cash,Sinatra and Elvis, mainly the Sun era early-mid 50's so it was a lot of black all the time and it keeps evolving into something new for me. A lot of suits that actually fit properly and the like. I always wore cowboy boots but with jeans and t-shirts now I only own one pair of sneakers the rest are shoes and boots. Like my mother always says "The shoes make the man." and I like to keep it that way. Ugly boots or sneakers can kill an outfit.

I'm with you there Johnny. I own 4 Pairs of Shoes. Work boots, Dress Shoes, Cowboy Boots, and Work Shoes that look like Dress Shoes. If not at work, I'm in Cowboy Boots, always.

Hi Guys!

I'm 24 (for another month

) and I've always been interested in history! I was the person who took extra history classes in secondary school! I've never really fit in with the crowd, dressing differently, listening to different music and well liking different things! It was only when I went to uni that I really got into history, mainly because I studied Art History! I also studied English and love love love novels from the Regency period up to about the 1960's.

I've always dressed differently to everyone else my own age, and the majority of my friends are all older than me. In secondary school I was the only skater/punk/grunge chick, but now it's a bit of an epidemic in my old school! After leaving uni and trying to get a job I had to calm down my appearance (it really was not extreme in any way, lip piercing, tattoos, etc) but now I'm in a position where I can dress as I want (as long as it's black) and, well, I generally get alot of compliments from my customers

. It was only this year that I started to dress vintage, before the closest I came to vintage dressing were my pencil skirts, but now I realise that I should dress how I want, like I did when I was a teenager.

I love music from the 40's onwards, jazz, blues, etc. Movies too! It's cliched but I do love Audrey Hepburn, in fact the town I'm from has a Style Icon Museum and has a nice collection of fashion and memorabilia from Audrey to Marilyn! http://www.newbridgesilverware.com/museum.aspx I recommend everyone has a little peep! Since I am extremely new to Fedora Lounge, I'd like to introduce myself. I'm 15 and pleasantly surprised at the number of young people interested in all things vintage. I am fascinated with vintage fashions, film, music, history, dance etc. Though I admit I'm not very knowlegable of many many subjects, what a better place to learn than here??

My mom first got me interested when her closet began to fill up with dresses and outfits for the 30's, 40's, and 50's. I have started a very humble collection but Mom is always on the look out for fun stuff. The elegance and general "put togethered" fashions are very appealing to me. I love listening to what many of my peers call "old people music" (Frank Sinatra, big band...) More and more this past year I've been watching old movies and looking for occasions to get all dolled up.

I don't know how I never saw this thread until now. I am 24 and have been into vintage since since before I can really remember and I have been trying to dress like it since I was 11 or 12 in the last couple of years I have obviously been supporting myself so I have had more funds to go after the look and style more. I have always just loved it.

They say since their grandparents listen to it, it has to be boring. I find older music to be a lot better than most of what comes out nowadays.
