So are those earbands just wrapped around the hat but not actually attached? I noticed on the Stormy website they say don't untie them, just pull it down.

Any pics with earband deployed?

Douglas, the first one you showed is post WWI into WWII until 1943, right? I owned one of those, too. Most of them have a date, like 1938 on the tag inside. I loved that hat. Wore it a lot. Had to liquidate my collection to get the credit card under control. I went crazy buying hats. Have you got an M-43 cap? How about a Korean era "pile cap" Had one of those, too, had to sell it.

Nice! Looks like the more rare M-43! I think the Korean is appropriately called the M-51. Can you wear all the hats in your collection? Looks like this should have been a new thread, Scotrace might feel we've hi-jacked the Stormy-Kromer thread. Sorry.

Bump!

So, as the fall season approaches in another month and winter right behind it, has anyone else picked up one of these great little Stormy Kromer caps yet? How do you like yours?
The closest thing I have for right now is my black Panzer M43 Enlisted Field Cap.

The wolfman. Sure he's quite the beau down his local bar!

We have a guy in Juneau, he does wear a wolf's head (an actual one) and we do call him the wolfman and he is always in the Alaskan Bar.

Please tell me you are referencing someone, they might be related.

Hi Dan. I have a "Panzer" cap too but a single button variant, which I like.
I also have a civilian style one, with buckle instaead of button. Like 'em.
Kromer, next winter- all hatted out for now.

Where I grew up the kromer is very popular, and they're made in Upper Michigan, now.

Here's a picture of my son on a trip home in a Stormy Kromer, with the ear flaps down. There's a gusset connecting the ear flap and the bottom of the crown, the tie in front is never untied. I'm wearing a Filson, which I prefer, and which is also locally called a kromer.

Hey BT! It was actually your panzer cap shown in the adventure gear thread (the one with the Edelweiss pin) that inspired me to get this one. Got it from Spearhead Militaria on ebay. Chen isn't around any more so I went with them. Good quality. It was later that they produced the single button variety. Oh well, this one will do the trick. Still looking for a leather kletterweste though to complete the alpine outfit. :)

Nick: Very cute with the mini Kromer on your son. :eusa_clap

I still need to decide what color of Kromer I want now. [huh]

Cheers!

Dan
