Once you start picking these up they are hard to stop.
I love the look of these and mens cufflinks. So fabulous.
I collect both.

50's beaded cardigans

I've had several 50's beaded cardigans for about 20years and just last weekend found a couple of beauties, I'd forgotten how beautiful and versatile they are.

I am wondering if anyone knows any historical information about them (I know they were mainly made/beaded in Hong Kong) the labels on the ones I have are long gone.

The other question was how to store and care for them properly.

I have several of these myself and I love them too. As far as care goes I use dryerell on them when they need cleaning and freshening along with an occational steaming. As far as storage goes I keep most of my sweaters in a big 1920's steamer trunk with cedar blocks and handmade herbal sachets to keep away the moth's. However regarding history I do not know that.

Brooksie, what is dryerell? I've googled and all I come up with is dryer venting systems lol If you can describe the product maybe there is a similar product here in Australia...

Pics of new cardys

Sorry about the humungous size of the pics. The first two are my "new" ones, just a couple of easily repaired moth holes and stitch down a couple of beads and they are in beautiful condition, lining all intact too.

And this is my old one that I've had forever

after having a wonderful conversation with a woman at work today (about my new cardigans) she said that she had some at home that she and her sister had bought when they were a lot skinnier and she would see if she could find them and give them to me. I offered to pay for them but she wouldn't hear of it.... Whoohooo!!!!

I have the second one and I found a Walborg Belgium beaded bag to match. I was in heaven.

Cardigans is the main thing I keep for myself. It is getting harder to find good ones.

Still looking for my Emerald green one in a medium to large. The sleeves have to be 20 or 21 inches. I don't like mine to be like I see so many wear them. I like them to keep me warm.

Burgundy/wine/claret or brick red crop cardigan or bolero. Full-length and NOT 3/4 sleeves. I think I'll give up soon and look for hen's teeth instead!
