Looks like I got my order in for a new Highwayman just under the wire. Noticed that Aero USA no longer offers free shipping. They are now charging $50.00... I assume this still covers duty fees.

I doubt it covers duty. I was charged duty in error when they shipped my jacket back after making repairs - it was approx $69.00. You'll pay duty when you take delivery of your jacket.

Aero USA pays the duty fees on their jackets when they receive shipment from Scotland. This is included in the price they charge.

You should not have to pay additional duty fees.
I did not have any separate duty fees added onto my Aero USA purchase.

Shipping is fairly expensive....at least out to me.
Mark charged me what he was charged by the carrier to get the jacket from him to me.

Thanks for the clarification. Much appreciated.

From what I recall in spring 2009 this change was in the works for quite a while but it wasn't implemented until now.

Back in May 2009 Mark had announced that shipping charges were forthcoming but for a short period of time he would give buyers a $45 rebate (to effectively negate the shipping charge) as a promotion. Aero USA didn't impose the shipping charge (until now) and so buyers during the promotion effectively got $45 knocked off the price of their jackets.

I guess free shipping was too good to last. I agree that shipping these jackets isn't cheap so the money needs to come from somewhere. When I shipped my Highwayman back to Aero Scotland for zipper repair it ran me $65 or so for USPS International. For a large, 8-10lb package, I can see why even UPS Ground within the Lower 48 would run a pretty penny.

Sorry - I should have clarified my initial response: I worked directly with Amanda and Will at Aero.
