Where to find replacement cloth belts?

Forum newbie here... in that uncomfortable ask-a-lot-of-questions-and-don't-have-much-valuable-input phase. [huh] Been lurking for a couple years, actually: this is the only comprehensive resource I know of for classic stuff. By people who still use it.

I have a couple jackets that need belts. I have a 60's era Belstaff Trailmaster that needs a belt and I'd like to add a belt to a Cabela's Safari jacket. More than once over the years I've turned down a good deal on a W&G Safari Jacket because it had no belt...

Try as I might, I have no idea where to find cloth belts for these kinds of jackets. I was about to start haunting the thrift stores for trench coats that I could sacrifice for their belts...

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
C

Hi C and welcome on the Fedora Lounge.
Ask as much as you like and add as much comment as you like. We are all here to help.
For your belt: maybe have a try on www.ebay.com. If you find it difficult to trace the belt you are looking for, try also www.ebay.co.uk , www.ebay.de and other countries. I found that items where I was looking for were listed elsewere than on (national) ebay sites.
Hope this is helpful to you.

Thanks, Andy.

Well, I attacked ebay again. "jacket belt?", no... "replacement belt?"... hmmm, no, but it turned up a black waxed cotton belt. Hmmm... "cotton belt". Better, but 113 pages.... sort by Unisex Accessories...

OK. There's hope. :) I haven't found what I'm looking for, yet, but at least I have some handle on it.

Don't know about the safari jackets, but I have heard of folks being able to buy repalcements for loat trenchcoat belts from Burberry - maybe one of their beige or khaki shades might do the job? With the Belstaff, I'd try dropping them an email and seel if they'll sell you one directly; I don't think the basic belt has changed in any significant way. It might need broken in to match the shade of your jacket, but that'd be my first port of call.

Hi, you COULD wear a Sam Browne Belt instead of the cloth jobs, especially if you have multiple Safari jackets.

....tagging on....

Any idea on where one could pick up a left hand sleeve belt w/buckle for a J.C.Penny`s Stafford navy blue trench coat (classic style-not newer model)?

The near-new Stafford trench I snagged for only $9.99 is minus this piece of the original coat. Can`t complain for the price though.

Thanks!
