I am sure that must have been upsetting to find.
I had a cat who lost his eyesight at the age of 14, and he adjusted quite well. I blocked off the stairways so he'd not try going up or down, and I kept him on one floor. I also crawled around on the floors so I that could find all of the potential eye-hazards and other hazards down there at his level. There were quite a few that I'd have never thought about.
Animals just seem to accept things pretty well and they adapt and go on.

I had a dog go blind a couple years ago. It's amazing how little it affected him. He still happily went on hikes on unfamiliar, uneven ground (on a leash, to keep him from walking into or off of things) and only slowed down a little in familiar environments.

Everyone's furry babies are so cute! I laughed and cried with you through this thread. I know how hard it is to lose our furry children, since I lost two in a year from old age, but I wanted to share one of our babies... This is Bear....
When we brought him home:

He's called Bubbas and Bubbala..... I love him more than life, which explains why I'm always on here. I can't leave him, because he cries lol

Here's our lovable mutts Dinah:
And Woody:
They're both pound pups and a quite a comedic team. They keep us laughing and on our feet. We believe Dinah is part blue heeler and part lab and Woody is some kind of hound mix. They are instant death on stuffed toys, eviscerating them in minutes so they can play tug-o-war with the skins. Their toy basket is pretty pathetic, just a bunch of threadbare skins of what used to be stuffed animals.

I've missed out on much of the goings-on around the Lounge for most of this past year, but in the interim, I gained - and unfortunately lost to some car tires - a real sweetheart of a cat . . .

Gwen loved to play and she always used her indoor claws whenever she attacked my hands. In the few short months that she was with me, she never broke my skin. She was also nuts about the red laser beam dot and would chase it for hours!
