I saw the Caezars supporting Imelda May a few weeks ago - loved them. The sheer energy was great, the edginess, the attitude - none of that polite, sanitised nonsense that so many today think of as 'rock and roll' or 'rockabilly' - played, the way I like to imagine they did back in the day. and I loved the trousers!
I'm jealous! I'm a huge fan but I haven't been able to see them since "Grace Under Pressure". I have a friend who saw them when they were a bar band in Toranto.

Forgot to post that I went to see Govt Mule couple of weeks ago, FANTASTIC show! Govt Mule is one of my favorite bands and to finally see them live, while standing right in front of the stage, was awesome!
If all goes right my wife and I will be attending a Bela Fleck and the Flecktones show pn the 19th, can't wait!!

I just saw the Cherry Poppin Daddy's 2 weeks ago, they were awesome. After the show I got to meet the entire band and chatted with them with my friends for a while. I originally saw them back in 1991 in a little bar in Portland.

"Knickerbocker Holiday"
I went to a concert performance of Kurt Weill and Maxwell Anderson's 1938 Broadway musical "Knickerbocker Holiday", at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center, here in New York last night. It had Victor Garber as Peter Stuyvensant (the role originated by the great Walter Huston), and Kelli O'Hara (who recently starred in "South Pacific" on Broadway), and a cast of other terrific Broadway stars. They were backed up by the Collegiate Chorale and the American Symphony Orchestra.
It was absolutely wonderful, tho I must say, Victor Garber as old Peter Stuyvesant, was a disappointment. His signature hit tune "September Song", fell flat. But Kelli O'Hara was brilliant.
It's an interesting show. It only ran for about 5 months in 1938. It has some wonderful music, but many of the songs, while beautiful and almost operatic, really aren't Broadway show tune type songs. And some of the comedy and plot, and especially the outdated political commentary in the story, fell flat. But still, a very worthwhile and extremely enjoyable evening.

I got to see Big Bad Voodoo Daddy in Easton, PA. They're really engaging onstage, and the great songs, infectious energy, and classy dress all contribute to an excellent show!
Wow, love the Daddy's! I didn't realize they were still together this is great news 'cause I sure would like to catch one of their shows if they ever get out this way.

Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt, all acoustic in the Akron Civic Theater. The theater is a real treasure, one of those gaudy Art Nouveau theaters with extensive ornamentation.
