Its color is not oxblood (or purple for that matter) as in the movie, is it? can't tell by the pic. Looks black or dark brown on my monitor.

Actual head size for the order was 7 1/4...

rabbit fur with John's new pouncing technique... much softer......

Sorry, you didn't specify a size in inches or centimeters? You just told him 7 1/4? I thought he usually took a more specific size for an order.

Thanks,
Riothamus

On my first hat he asked my size, I told him I was buying size 57 or 58 from Panama Bob and any other hat I bought was either marked 7 1/4 or large. At that time I wasn't sure of my size....... and could never get one to fit right. Hence the reason I was trying a custom made hat.

The first hat I got from John fit like the others that I had bought so that is how I started into the custom hat purchases. I asked him during a conversation what size it was and I was informed a 7 1/4

I order this hat and he made it to match the first one he made for me.

I received a pm asking for a measurement of this hat and it measured 22 7/8 to the best of my ability.

I thought i was never going to get a hat that fit just right, figured my noggin was warped or something. LOL

When I ordered a VS hat from ART. I received a conformer in the mail to get a true measurement and shape of my head, that is when I found out I was in between sizes and a LO..... All of that info told me why I couldn't find a hat that fit me perfectly until then...

So I am selling all other hats and only keeping the perfect fit VS'.

Before you ask, we don't have any hatters near Pittsburgh and I was at the mercy or buying and trying to get a hat to fit....

I hope that satisfies your curiosity.....

Harry,

The information you gave me on the first hat was 58cm and that you had a few hats of 7 1/4. When you ordered the 2nd hat ( this hat ) you asked me to make it the same size as the first. This hat is a 58cm/22.83inches or 7 1/4.

I have changed the way I get measurements from customers to better serve them. it's a struggle to find a way that I can get all the information I need to make the best possible fitted hat. I have the same conformer you speak of and can send it out to customer per their request but realize that I'm still at the mercy of the person using the conformer. I have had good and bad results from the conformer. Just like any other hatter your not going to hit the mark each and every time. I do have a high success rate and if a hat doesn't fit just right. I'll correct it, if the customer lets me know upon receiving their hat.

Harry, if you are selling it because you need a long oval when in fact is a reg. oval. I can correct that for you. I would hate to see you sell a hat that you said you loved so much over what is a easy fix.

Thanks John .

I was trying to answer a question asked. As I had no way of knowing my correct size, whether I was buying from you or Village hat shop.

And didn't really know my real size or shape at the time we were doing business or had any way or finding it out except by trail and error.. No hatter or shop here to help so I had to buy and try that was all I had.....

Also I find now that I like the look of a 2 3/4 brim much better on me than the 2 1/2..

If it doesn't sell, I may take you up on the fix to LO.

Let me make this clear, I am not selling this hat because I am not happy with your work..
