I'd like to invite everyone here to put forth their hopes for a better year and a little about what they'd like to do in 2011 especially their vintage aspirations.

For me 2011 will be a year to begin to get back to a regular job and circumstances. I need to find out how to post on Craig's List to find a roommate to help with expenses in my house. I will then do some repairs.

Getting to hold a Backyard BBQ for the Fedora Loungers.

I also want to upgrade computer wise so I can actually do some video editing and post some videos from the Fedora Lounge Queen Mary meet and other stuff on You-tube.

My hope is that things improve this year for everyone.

My hope is that my wife is able to find a good job, one that she enjoys, preferably the one she's applied for at my own company. We won't be able to see each other much during the day as my job and the one she's applying for are regional, but most nights we'll be able to be home together unlike her last job.

For myself, I don't hope to but plan to continue with my exercising and cutting back on the eating fast-food lunches as a start.

Vintage-wise, when things warm up a bit I'll get my '72 Yamaha XS650 back on the road. I'll also work on making time to clean up and sell some of the hats I have that don't fit, (no, NOT the 7 1/4s! I plan on shrinking back down into them! lol

I have a few vintage fountain pens that need work, so I plan on learning a bit about pen restoration.

Non-vintage, I, too, want to replace my home computer with something state-of-the-art (or just below it, anyway) and make this one a network server so I can get up to speed with MS Server 2008.

But for now, I think I should go finish wrapping presents for She Who Must Be Obeyed.

For me it will be setting up a bigger vegetable garden and adding fruit trees and then learning to can. For whatever reason canning scares me :eeek:

On that note, I've already gotten rid of most pre-made goods from our pantry, but this year I want to learn how to make my own pasta, different breads (instead of just white), crackers, etc.

I want to get rid of most of my modern t-shirt/jeans attire and really embrace a 40s/50s housewife look. I've been wearing the make-up and hair everyday, but getting a wardrobe together has been financially challenging.

I also want to finish taking the awful plastic siding off the rest of our house we're restoring and fix up my 51' chevy so that I can drive him in the winter. Someone modified him and now he's too low to take out in the snow.

Other than that I want health and happiness for my family and all of yours

I wish everyone (including myself) with weight-loss aspirations the best of luck. The gym has been set on the back-burner under this current workload.

I think the thing I want the most right now is a decent vintage typewriter.

Obtaining a decent vintage typewriter ought to be fairly easy compared to the weight loss! Depends upon what you're looking for, of course. I already have one, a Royal from the mid-50s that my mother bought used around the time I was born. There's quite a few listed in ebay. Best of luck in both endeavors!

My hopes for the next year are to find a new woman first and foremost.

Perhaps buy a house, now's the time to. Also considering selling my 1979 Buick Sedan and buying a 1973 Buick Wagon. I also plan to keep on dieting, I've lost 60 pounds since December 2009.

I missed a mint Royal in a local shop today by 5 minutes. I'm still a little peeved, but I know there's more out there.

I also dug up my transcription of Coleman Hawkins' "Body and Soul", so we'll see how that goes.

I want to lose 10-20 lbs. so I can get back to sewing my own clothing. I've stopped because of a weight gain and being unsure how to size up at the weight I am now. It's only one size, but it's still annoying.

So that's both a modern and a vintage aspiration.

There were some highlights in this past year however, it was a tough one and hope that the coming year will mean new adventures and some sort of stable income to support the home life.

it's time for me to get a new suit. my old modern one is too big and off the rack doesn't work. will have to balance utility and vintage, but i'm looking forward to fabric hunting if nothing else. if everything works out i'm planning on three suits: winter wool, tropical wool and a set of tweeds.

more immediately, i'm always looking for vintage/inspired workwear or leisure shirts (guayabera, etc.).

I'm hoping that things will work out in the year ahead that I can buy back my house -- I had to sell it seven years ago to pay medical bills, and have been living here on a lease ever since. But my landlord has offered me a chance to buy it back and I'm trying to figure out a way I can afford to do that. I've got till next August to figure it out, and a lot is going to have to fall into place first. The only way I want to leave it is feet first, so hopefully things can be worked out. (It was built in 1911, so it counts as vintage, I think.)

On a smaller scale, I want to finish the dress I cut out two months ago and which has been sitting on my kitchen table ever since.

My sister and I have decided to have a no-pants challenge (skirts & dresses only!) for as long as we can, excluding work due to uniforms. So in 2011 I hope to enjoy my no-pants challenge! And for the summer, we hope to can things as we did when we were little girls with our mum. I'd like to sew more, too, though getting through school takes precedence over everything else.

I tend not to make resolutions, but these are my plans for the year, regardless!

I'm hoping to progress in my career and perhaps my business, and increase my personal income to become more stable and independent.

Vintage wise, I'd love to have more space to get more antiques and continue my collection. Of course, for that to happen, my first wish for next year has to happen.

Greetings, and happy holidays fellow loungers.

I am glad to share that I found a lady here in Austin that makes vintage styled hats, and clothes in her business.

I met with her last week, and gave her my top hat to reform the brim properly for a New Years Party I am attending in Las Vegas.

I then decided I will have her make me a Fedora next year in just the felt and style I have wanted.

Know what some of the guys mean about many lady's not being interested in the vintage lifestyle.... my wife thinks I am odd for it
