Super Cub & DC3

Here is a cool video, cute plane and some of the upsides to Idaho :D

Super Cub and DC3, the two greatest airplanes of all times! If you look at the end of that video, it shows other videos, one is a short field landing by a DC3. My boss would do that with the Harpoon, it was called a Transport landing by the old timers!

I should ask my friend's dad about that, he used to fly DC3s :)

found the photo; this is the one my father was 'chuting from and the one he finally bought:

V28.jpg

It was back in 1972; during the time when Croatia was part of Yugoslavia and before the Croatian war of independence (1991-1995)

Greetings:
I've been lurking here awhile, but never been much of a poster to these things. However, I absolutely love this place and the people who contribute. Hepkitty, since I spend a lot of time in both - a gentle correction. What you have pictured in post #450 is my current ride, a C-17- truly one of the most versatile and attractive airlifters ever. Actually both the 17 and the C-5 are both quite stylish in their own unique way.

I've been hesitant to post in this thread because of the age of the aircraft. The Boeing 727 was conceived in the late '50's and started production in 1963. It has always been my favorite aircraft to look at, fly in, model, and use as my simulator.

Production of this aircraft was surpassed only by the 737 in the early 2000's. This is an easy aircraft to fly as long as you stay on the power, and you can squeeze this in to more fields than even a 737 due to the leading edge Krueger flaps and tripple slotted trailing edge flaps. This is truly a pilot's airplane and is to the Jet Age what the DC-3 was to the propeller age.

This is a full size 727 simulator I built myself from many Boeing parts and many that I scratchbuilt. Five computer systems running various cliet/server applications for command and control and visuals run the simulator. Loads of fun!

Simply amazing, old man. Quite the bees knees

Impressive sim--and good choice. If I had the budget to buy, modernize (read: rebuild with new digital avionics and fly-by-light and more efficient engines so it's almost a whole new aircraft) and single-pilot-capable-ize any plane in the world, the only reason the 727 takes second place to the C-130 is that you can't get a car into or out of a 727 without support equipment and the 130's just roll-on/roll-off.

I've looked at that bird, has the appeal of being a relatively inexpensive kit ($50K) you can build at home with hand-tools, my big reservation was lack of baggage room (I minimum at 2 seats, 2 large suitcases, 2 large carry-ons plus my companion's purse).

Congrats on another milestone, you're officially ahead of me! Next thing you know, you'll have your CFI and I'll be coming to you, hat in hand, and asking to be your student... ;)

It certainly does lack luggage room. I know I wouldn't have enough room for my shoes, never mind the dresses to go with them lol

Thank you, if I can get that far I'd be happy to teach you!
