Dont reconise the name, so i consulted the oracle of past knitting companies in the uk " Skinners Hoisery and knit goods directory 1954" A wonderful old book i bought years ago.
The only company that might have made your Jumper is Gordon & Co. ( The Glen Glove and Hoisery Company) Union Glen,Aberdeen. Establised 1915 employees 400, Machines 150 circular 200 flat, product range; Woollen gloves,ladies and gents Knitted garments.
I also checked under trade marks and Glen Gordon is not listed.

Thanks for your effort. I think it could be the same company - 'Glen' seems to occur a lot their details. Maybe they only used the name Glen Gordon for government contracts. Your directory sound like a fine publication indeed!

The Navy Blue Wool Sub Roll neck I recently ordered from grandprixlegends.com arrived and is a superb pullover, fits well and warm too which is just as well as it's gone cold again, they are another good firm to deal with. Rgds.

ordered a white and navy one from Nauticalia, love them both. The Navy is very dark and hard to tell its not black until you get in daylight. Very happy with the purchase.

I Was watching the UK TV Channel Five documentary last night, Royal Navy - Submarine and was surprised and pleased to note that some of the submariners on that were wearing the Sub-Mariner White Roll Neck Wool Jerseys as well as the ribbed navy blue woolly pullys. I did not realise that they still issued the Sub Mariner Rollnecks these days. They still look very good.

Were they issued, or are they a pp item? I know at one time sub crews out on active duty weren't as strict about uniform details as other troops, but I don't know if that's still the case?

I've got a jersey, but looking at the ones that pop up in the classic films, they appear to be a much shorter length than current issue ones.

No I am not sure, but they were working in them.

I think it may depend on the manufacturers, I have a couple of white ones, one by J Pick & Sons the other by Silvermans and also a Navy Blue Sub Roll Neck from Grand Prix Legends as I think is mentioned earlier in this thread. I am very happy with them and the length of these jerseys. Ace cafe also sell the white Sub Roll Necks.

Hi everyone..currently sat here listening to the clickety click of my wife knitting my new polo neck to the same 1942 forces comfort polo neck pattern she found at a local market.
Was going to have it in off white but was told better in either dark blue or black..so having it in black as it also will make me look slimmer

Good morning, yes I know what you mean about having it in a dark colour, as well as an off white one I also have one in navy blue. It will be smart and handy for the cold winter we are supposed to be getting. Rgds Steve.
