The "Orientation" video looks amazing, although I share Rue's concern of solid addiction until the game's completion. Also, the guy's facial expression at 1:55 kind of reminds me of Nathan Lane.

I'm tempted to pick up a second hand console largely on account of this game (considering we're still waiting for Rockstar to relase Red Dead Redemption on PC, and considering the cockup that was the PC version of GTAIV, I would not at all be suprised if it never gets to us PC-ers). This looks to be a belter of a game, and I'm glad Rockstar is using some it's skill in something so innovative.

The only thing I'm worried about is it being too short (the curse of the modern computer game, though that's usually due to over focus on multiplayer - something I can't see as being doable with LA Noire, and in fairness Rockstar are very good at avoiding), or that it remains too difficult (or too obvious) to read people.

On a completely unrelated note, why is it only one game I can think of has decently animated suits? Seems to be something most developers can't get right. Not that it matters

I honestly didn't enjoy Mafia II.

I give it a 6/10.

It's all "that'll do".

It's nice, but that'll do.
It has some nice missions, but that'll do.
It has some alright characters, but that'll do.

Nothing is brought out to its full potential. That put the game off for me. Mafia I had much more.

Just played a couple of missions. Now I'm in prision which reminded me a lot of the Shawshank redemption film with Morgan Freeman... Entertaining but not great still... we'll see.

You can stop waiting for RDR to make a PC debut. My Texan contact in the gaming industry told me months ago that Rockstar has no desire to bring RDR to the PC: the programmers cobbled the code together for the console versions in a half-hazard way, making a PC port too difficult to build without constructing the game from scratch (which also explains bugs like the donkey-lady and cougar man). The PC version was axed before the game was even released.

I had figured as much - as I say, the PC version of GTA IV had problems. Shame really.

Another gameplay video was released recently, this one is "Investigation and Interrogation".
Shows the methods of investigation the detective uses in the game.

Some of the people seemed familiar, realized a few could be movie and tv actors I've seen before.
The grocery store clerk looks like actor Brian Krause (1:08) and it appears Ned Vaughn (2:11) is a detective.

Rockstar also recently revealed there won't be an online multiplayer aspect to the game, kind of disappointing. Hopefully they at least have created an environment that at least allows the player to wander and take in the great scenery without a time limit.

I read that it takes place in 1947 over 8 square miles of Los Angeles.

I thought you started in like 1946 and time goes on into the 50s. You basically follow the main character's rise to the top as he makes he way threw the ranks for the years. I could be wrong though, it's been awhile since I've read about it. I'd be happy if the game was solely in 47.

I'm thinking about pre-ordering this. Trying to decide if it's worth it.

I think this will doa nice job of filling the void left by Mafia II. Mafia II was fun but it was a little too generic for my tastes. Hopefully this game will be much more detail-oriented/historically accurate. But after the job Rockstar did in that department with Red Dead Redemption, I'm no longer too concerned about that. I'm convinced they are going to nail 1947 right on the head, right down to magazines and shoe labels.

It looks like it shares a common engine with RDR as well, which I like.

I believe the game is supposed to be based on crimes that occurred in 1947. If so, I assume they will include the Black Dahlia.

There are pre-order bonus cases or special ability suits which vary depending on where you buy the game. The following video is the WalMart bonus case. If you ask me, Miss Archer is the absolute dumbest criminal in the world to let the full name of Mr. Belasco slip so easily.

I'm going out right now to pre order it. I have Godfather II, which was pretty decent...but rockstar has always produced terrific games. Most times they just sit on my shelf because I've never had the time to play for an hour or so.
