My 40's linen pants have finally returned from the tailor and even though it was slightly colder today than it was on the previous days I just had to try them on, along with a linen shirt. Except for a panama I'm almost ready for the summer.

Nice Mario. I've found a modern linen suit with a 50s looking jacket but the trousers are nowhere near as good as those unfortunately.

Thanks! They were a risky purchase. I BINed them on ebay for considerably less than the seller originally intended, but then they've had some pretty heavy storage dirt, yellowing, marks from the hangers and what not. That's what 60 or 70 years of storage can do to a garment. 28 hours or so of repeated soakings in Vanish Oxiclean finally did the trick, even though it wasn't before almost 24 hrs had passed that they slowly began to look cleaner. They're perfect now. Lucky me!

Yep, modern Levi 501 shrink-to-fits. I upsized about 2 inches in the waist so they would shrink up a little. I did the classic "trick" and laid in a bathtub with them on and sure enough they shrank up almost a full 2 inches in the waist. I also get them about 6 inches to long because I like to roll them up.
