Lonely Hearts. A crime drama based on a true story from the 1940's. Very good costuming and props captured the era well.

I sincerely believe that reviewers sometimes pick a film to bash for reasons that have nothing to do wiht how good a film is, just as they will trumpet a film that wasn't as good as they say it was.

One of my all-time favorites- Bette dominates everybody, George Sanders is his smooth on the outside, rotten on the inside best, Anne Baxter is amazing in that breathy way she emotes. Great shots of NYC and folks in great suits and top coats, etc.

At UCLA football games several years ago, just before kick off they would run a series of clips from old movies on the jumbotron, sort of pep talks from WW2 movies and whatnot and they included the "It's going be be a bumpy ride" line.

The Thin Blue Line - excellent and quite scary documentary about a miscarriage of justice. I always think being imprisoned for something you didn't do has to be one of the most terrifying and horrendous things that could happen to you......

Fun, awesome movie references. I was wowed by the killer's motives in this one, or rather that a movie like this addressed the subject.

Best line in the movie: "One thing about remakes, never &#$@ with the original."

See I wasn't sure about Scream 4 as I loved the first one, liked the second one and really didn't care for the third one (maybe Courtney's weird fringe ruined it for me) and I was hoping 4 may redeem the franchise but had my doubts - good to hear some positive feedback on it.

I mean its not great and sometimes they try so hard to overt a cliche that it becomes a cliche. Sometimes that was unavoidable, but overall it was fun and silly and enjoyable. But the beginning was the *best* part.

I suppose you could put a sexist gloss on it, but no more so than any period noir. In the fantasy sequences, where most of the violence actually occurs, it is very much the ladies who come out on top. I've seen far worse on screen - for real misogyny that made me feel quite sick, see the appalling remake of The Wicker Man.

I imagine that's a big part of the audience it will reach, but they'll be sadly disappointed as it really is far too sharp for most of them.

This happens a lot. Most critics never seem to outgrow wanting to be thought 'cool'. Same people as you get queuing up to bash the latest production of the Rocky Horror Show whenever it tours here in the UK, because it's the cool thing to do. [huh]

Meh. I think I'll wait for it on TV. Long time horror fan, but I found the Scream franchise disappointing. The first one was watchable, an entertaining enough little stalker-slasher picture, but nowhere near as clever as it thought it was... nor did it merit a sequel.

Sorry to disappoint with my opinion but I dug it. Their addressing of the reboot/remake phenomena was very refreshing.

Van Helsing.... oddly enough, I quite enjoyed that one. It is silly and ridiculous, but I found it fun on that level. It put me in mind of some of the later Hammer Horrors, had they had access to modern sfx and the necessary budgets.

Ah, now..option is the one thing to which we are all entitled. No apology necessary!

Within their framework of referencing the "rules" of the genre, it certainly is the next logical step for them, having doe the 'sequels' thing, to reference the recent trend for reboots.
