Call the shop, ask for Tiffani of Graham. They do phone fittings and mail you the hat after they make it. Process can take a few weeks to a couple of months depending on demand. I think that's how most of us here have gotten ours. Easy process but prepare to open your wallet. These beauties cost what they are worth. And that is High.

Gama, your question was already answered in the ask a question get an answer thread. The only way to purchase an Optimo if you can't get to the store is to call them.

Milans start at $395, felt hats start at $595.

My bad, I'm half asleep.

They look too good for me to be stopped by price now. =P

Call and talk to Tiffani. But a good portion of the value that Optimo provides is that the hat fits your head and your face. That's hard to do over the phone.

It's possible. These people are experts and do this all of the time. I was fit over the phone, and I sent them photos of my face at various angles without a hat, and with various hats of different brim widths and crowns.

So, is it easier to do in the store? Yes. Can it be done over the phone? Yes. You just have to give them more data to work with, like sending them many photos.

I was so happy with my oxblood fedora (picture posted just recently in this thread), that I just put my order in for a silverbelly.

Ok, so I called but I haven't placed an order just yet. I asked them what shipping method they used, and they said they use USPS, but can use FedEx or UPS or whatnot. I'm having the hat delivered internationally, does anyone have any personal suggestions as to which service to use? I'd hate to wait weeks for a hat, pay 400 bucks, and then see that it's ruined during transit.

Is the whole process completed via phone? So I'll basically just give them my credit card details and shipping address over the phone once we're done, and voila?

Ok, thanks.

Anyway, I posted this in the Ask A Question, Get an Answer thread, but I figured I'll go into slightly more detail here:

I printed out the Phone Fitting Form (which they said at least have an idea of what you want in mind).

The color, finish, style, and brim width section are self-explanatory I guess; I know what I want.

However, I am a little undecided/uninformed regarding the Brim Edge. It says "Raw" "stitched" "Overwelted" "Underwelted" and "Bound." As I'm going for a Milan Straw hat, does this section apply to me, or is this Brim Edge for straw hats standardized.

Ribbon color and width, is also self-explanatory and probably no one can give me a definite answer since I would believe it's preferential.

The other thing is, that there isn't a section for "Crown height" - Is it pretty much standard as well, or do I have to specify what height I want. If it's the latter, and I'm stating the height, is the height AFTER the hat has been creased, or prior? E.g.; 5inch crown = 5inch crown, creased or 5inch crown before creasing?

Lastly, the Hat Size part, what does it mean to "try to get the largest size possible without the tape measure slipping"? Does that mean I shouldn't pull the tape taut?

Just bought a hat from Optimo! Can't wait. :D

So does this make me a Mobster too, or do I have to wait till my hat actually arrives before I am a made man? :p

I just got a milan from Optimo, you'll be very happy with it. To tell the truth, I can't remember right now how the brim edge is finished, I think its raw? Hats should fit some what loosely, so don't pull the tape taunt. I would imagine that the crown height is something they can work out based on the pictures you send. Tell optimo the color ribbon you want, but trust them on the exact width and shade. The hats ship in a nice hat box inside a shipping box. It should be safe in transit.

Yeah I placed the order and I have to say, I've never been so excited for a hat before, seriously.

I didn't pull the tape to tightly, but I figured if it's a bit too loose after my haircut, I can always use some padding behind the sweatband. Apparently straw teardrop has a pretty standard crown height (which I was fine with anyway). Tiffani suggested not to go higher than 1.5" for a ribbon, so I went with 1.25" (which is the width of ribbon on my Borso, that I like).

So... July. :D

Should be nice. And that's not a long wait ... :rapture:

Yeah, not really that long, but I'm a relatively impatient kinda guy. =P Not in a "I better have it soon or else" kinda way, but more of an "Oh man I can't wait I can't wait I can't wait."

I got my first Optimo last week. The Optimo in oxblood:

I'd say bigger crown and brim... and more pics. With this angle it's more a showcase of the hat and not you in the hat. Going by what I can see of your face I think 2 inches is very modest going by the style of suit you are wearing. Optimo tends to lean toward the smaller styles... I think you should try a bit larger proportion in general.
