I'd agree with the '70s estimate - it's very similar to my Burton number from the same era. It's a truly beautiful suit. Fits you very well too - lucky find and a brilliant bargain!
Wouldn't it be wonderful if we had this type of label dating info on all the makers.

Burton are especially helpful in that respect - not only are their labels easy to date but anything made MTM/bespoke by them had the cardboard cutter's tags in the pockets that have a date somewhere.
Unfortunately, it's not that simple. They were quite inconsistent about dating until about the mid 60s. Prior to that they sometimes used dates, sometimes date codes, and sometimes nothing at all.
Interestingly, the main thrust of their business model was MTM in the glory days (20s-40s). They offered Ready-To-Wear as a speedy convenience option for customers, but most of their manufacturing was set up for MTM and the cost was more or less the same. They had a 'Bespoke Dept.' but I've not been able to ascertain the extent to which that service would be considered true bespoke by strict standards, or how extensively it differed from their MTM service.

Thanks! Suspenders, always. Nothing else keeps the pants at the right height with the vest, without sagging and breaking up the crease.

Personally I think the outfit could ending up being too brown with a brown hat as the suit, tie and shoes are all brown. A tan or taupe hat (as the real J.J. Gittes wears) would work best in my opinion.
