Hi everybody! I'm a lurker on this thread and I decided it was time for my first post, which hopefully would be a useful contribution. This first picture is of my hair damp. When it's dry naturally, it has a natural wave to it; it's not poker straight. I would say it's medium, not thick or thin.

This is my first set ever, which is all standing up pin curls rolled under. I'm not sure how I feel about the results.

This is my second set that I prefer more. I think it looks cleaner overall and due to my rolling, I created a middy effect in my one length hair to enhance the vintage look.

I think the second set looks more 1940s...What does everybody think? I think the valuable lesson I learned was the vintage look is half the curls and half the hair cut. With my one length hair, I don't think my look is totally authentic. I eventually want to grow my hair to my waist, but I think I'll have it shaped as a U in the back to enhance my sets. :)

itsgena, I love the bouncy full curls from the first look, but the effect you get with the second is really nice too!

This is my first try with the headband set! It's really different, and I'm not sure how to get around the kind of Farrah Fawcett bangs (pin curls perhaps...), but I like it!

ItsGina, Both looks are so pretty on you, but my favorite is the big bouncy curls. Rockyhorror, I know what you mean
about the bang area with the Headband set, I think it could be overcome with a standup pincurl or two at the front.
It looks great on you, and isn't it easy?

It is easy! Plus my roommates think it's just a normal hairstyle, while they usually make fun of my pincurls!
I also, got all done up to go to a play a couple of days ago, and I wanted to share :)

Itsgenda - both sets are retro-y to me but I prefer the first one because I love that kind of long, Veronica Lake kind of 'do.

RockyHorror, I pulled the front section of my hair out a bit at the root after wrapping it so that it made a kind of 'S' curve toward my forehead and then away from as it went around the band. I also pulled the band up to my hairline, which left a kind of indention that looks like the beginning of the 'S' curve. It worked pretty well, at least this time. Now if only I had been able to let the whole thing dry!

Well my camera blew out my face but I think you can still see my hair from yesterday...I did a wet set and I was experimenting with larger pincurls than I usually make...not really super happy since it doesn't look really vintage but came out ok enough for me to go out in it... :p

You ladies all have such wonderful hair. I've got a serious case of envy.

So, I also was excited by the "hair band curling method." This is a pic of my hair wrapped around the band as a hairstyle, while drying:

To cover up the space on the band, I pinned a flower. Since I have bangs, I also used a hair clip under the flower to help hold the band in place. We'll see what the curling results are tomorrow! I've got my fingers crossed since I have long hair.
