Great travel shots, Blackthorn. Montserrat brings back memories, I visited there on one of my first trips outside the UK with my then girlfriend, future fiance, future wife, current ex-wife. Spectacular location isn't it?

Blackthorn: Excellent pics of your adventures. Looks like the same hat in each photo? VS?

Yep, Delectans, a VS by Art. Good call! I'm facetiously calling it the Blackthorn Travel Hat. I have lots of hats, but I only travel with that one (it's the same one in my avatar, and that picture is a crop from a larger pic taken in China a few months ago).

Its beauty is almost phenomenal, DJH. I may go back and spend some time there some day. That place is just gorgeous.

Of course most of us CAN be classified as being "old men"!
My wife feels similarly to Cole's... but you're right, it eventually becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, even for 33 year olds, when one has three kids (one going into middle school-- yikes!) and you start noticing your body is falling apart more every day...!

Amazing and inspiring photos lately, everyone! Thanks for sharing.

Nice to see the summer straws out. I bought a Panama yesterday, but I think I'll buy another straw today, something along the lines of what Javier has. Very handsome.

Looks good, T Rick. I'm going to get one of those come summer. I read some disatisfaction with the linen hp caps from a few posters, but the ones I've seen so far look quite good. I wonder how linen would work in the Extra Full Cut and flopped to one side like that.

I see no issues with this cap (hadn't seen the negatives you mentioned). It is very light and not at all stiff, not sure what the gripes were. It is hand made, and there is a minor flaw here or there, nothing that detracts from the wear-ability or look of the cap IMO. Just shows you it is indeed hand crafted.

As to the extra full cut, I think I'd be more likely to wear it with the excess centered in that case, in fact was thinking of the Green Brown & Black like you have, but in the Extra Full for that very reason (see the Cap Faction for more thoughts and pics, just posted there).

Summer is a ways off for you yet (roughly our Winter here North of the Equator for those who hadn't considered the difference). Enjoy your Winter, hope it's milder than it was at my home (then again, I defected to Florida for much of ours! :D).

Yeah, I've seen Speedracer (forget full username) with one and friend posted a video of a linen medium cut in oatmeal that looked really good.

I've been looking forward to winter here - wool cap wearing weather. And although, people around here complain about the cold, we usually only get down to minus five degree C and the days are often in the teens.

I never thought I'd like newsboy caps, but the thing I notice now when I wear a trimmer style of cap is that I miss the feel and look of having a bit of fabric hanging over my ears.

It is pretty tricky buying caps without trying them on. I'm willing to take risks when purchasing hp caps, because they aren't really very expensive and they are quite loveable being handmade. It is hard to know how the extra full would look - the photos I've seen of them are pretty daunting. I think the brown, black and green would suit your complexion and eye colour very well. The fabric doesn't have any stiffness to it, the softest of my three caps, and having the extra fabric might help, I don't know. Not being as stiff as my other caps, the brim doesn't sit out as much, and you can feel the wool against your forehead a bit - you get used to it, but anyone who is antsy about wool being prickley might find it irritating. My theory is that wool is itchy against the skin for about five minutes and then you don't notice it; synthetics aren't itchy when you put them on, but get itchy when you start to sweat.

I think having a beard might help with the look of a extra full cut. I haven't seen anyone with a beard in a extra full cut yet to test my theory though. And my bbg full cut doesn't seem to look as big as my other full cuts, so maybe it will be the same with an extra full cut. Anyway, good luck :)
