I won it... I think I may have been very lucky too, as the auction seems to have flown under the radar for the most part (The seller had listed the suit in a place one wouldn't normally expect to find something like this).

Matt Deckard bid me up to $200.00 with 1 second to go, and had he bid a cent more, the suit would be his now.

I have a tall and thin build (6'2" 175) similar to the one the seller describes himself as having when he first bought the suit years ago. I'll have to do some alterations on the trousers, but the jacket should fit me well.

I LOVE DB suits. I've wanted one like this ever since I started collecting vintage (BTW, I blame the Fedora Lounge for that particular addiction). Unfortunately, the only things I could ever find that would both fit me and be within my price range were from the 1940's.

Whether or not it fits me, I'll be happy... A beltback suit in such fine condition is is quite a prize!

You too eh? Yeah, it's long enough for me but, too narrow... man, what a suit!!! They always come close but, never close enough!

I hope you plan on wearing it to the QM!!! You better be there to show it off!!!;)

Thanks Marc! I wouldn't have known what to look for had I not spent so many months studying the very informative comments of people like yourself and others on this board. The Fedora Lounge is an amazing resource on 1920's-1940's fashion, and Art Deco style in general.

It's nice to finally grab something from the 1930's, because I'm really more interested in that period to begin with... Now the next time I play my Boswell Sisters and Bing Crosby records I can look the part!

QM is a long way off, but I'd love to attend. I've never set foot on her in all the years I've lived in the area -- it's a shame because I've always wanted to!

Of course various attempts to photograph myself in the suit were made, unfortunately...

"No officer, I haven't had anything to drink this evening, honest!!"

Oh boy! Looks swell! Try and get a nice out side shot of it on... have a friend take it so we can see the whole thing!

Yes, you need to get to the QM! You can go and hang out in the Observation Bar with out paying anything... it's pretty easy to get on the ship... dress up nice act like you own the place and tell the security guard you're going to the bar... they will say: Yes SIR!
