I'm a big fan of an Argyle sock, myself. Tartan is familiar, but I can't call the name to mind from memory... Jacket/ waistcoat are great - always nice to see something different than the more formal black being worn with a kilt. The regular shoes look great (truth be told, I'm not a huge fan of the high-lacing brogues; I think I'm gong to try and track down a buckling pair for my own Highland dress). The long Sporran is an interesting choice, too - I most commonly see those on pipers, especially military.

Edward,

The tartan is Nicholson muted hunting from Batley's which is a smaller weaving mill. My wife is a Nichol so this tartan honors her and her family. As for ghillie brogues, I have a pair but tend to leave them for black tie occasions (I personally think a regular shoe works just fine.) Buckle brogues would be fun but I would would wear them only with a Formal doublet (like my Sheriffmuir).

Though horsehair sporrans are mainly seen nowadays on pipers this wasn't always the case like you can see with Queen Victoria's companion/servant John Brown

For my prom last Friday. It was a masquarade theme (not my idea). I had a black homburg with me but didn't end up wearing it very much that night.

Today, for a job interview in London. It's the first time in over a year I didn't wear a hat and only because I didn't want to spoil my chances of getting a job. I also committed the faux pas of wearing black shoes whilst carrying a brown briefcase .

-60s NOS suit (far too heavy for the weather but the only suit I have which I consider appropriate for a financial advice company)
-50s tie

Rue,

Just an observation, but that seems an awfully small cocktail receptacle, were you feeling all right? ;)
