To my cabin in the Colorado mountains for a week...

Built in the 1890's and even has one of the original occupants buried in the front yard (died 1918). A work in progress. Trying to return it to some form of it's original grandeur! Currently I'm working for a 20's/30's era hunting cabin. Lots of rustic furniture, woodstove already there and working, a wool, flannel, & canvas kinda place where I can smoke my pipe with a good book in the evening. But there's still much to do!!!!!

My favorite fishing spot!!!! Just down the road a bit. (Yes Baggers! I'm rubbing it in!!!!! ) Mmmmmmm,,,, delicious rainbows!

Man, that brings back memories of the cabin my maternal grandparents' friends owned up near Helena, MT. The fishing wasn't any good because the stream was too small but the chokecherry bushes were loaded. Mashed, sweetened and poured over home-made ice cream, they were a small boy's idea of heaven . . . especially at the cabin.

I'm back! Caught a mess of rainbows. Had a great time and enjoyed the cooler weather. Now back to the 100F+ degree stuff! Whew!!!!! Pics when I can.

Trust me, the thought has crossed my mind!!!!!! LOL! I've got several family obligations that keep me here for the time, But you never know what the future might hold.

I understand that perfectly. I'm kind of in the same boat. While I live in the dreary Willamette Valley of western Oregon, I have my five acres of heaven in the high country of eastern Oregon, although mine lacks the log cabin. I'm envious.

Now there's the kind of country a fly fisherman dreams of. Plenty of room to back cast so you can send that Wooly Bugger out to the center of the pool with no worries about hanging up in a tree. Lovely, just lovely.

Thr cabin I consider a WIP. You know, never finished..... I've got to get wifey healthy first. She's got two more surgeries to go. That's kinda put a damper on things!

Sarge, that stream is a ditch directing snow melt down from the mountains to the lake. When the water drops and slows down you can really see the browns in it!!!!!!

BTW, there are four other bull elk in that above photo!!!!!!!!!! One is a 300+ class bull!!!!!!!! They can hide prety well!!!!!!!

not much on the fishing bit....(too much time working in a marina in fla. broke me of wanting anyhting to do with fishing..lol)...scenery is beautiful though....and i agree on the pipe...got my kaywoodie stuck in my mush right now...lol....
