Your people will definitely in my thoughts & prayers. I find myself more and more appalled by everything...but surprised by nothing.
Which is why I like to 'hide' here, with the good kids.

God Bless,

I'll be thinking of Norway today and in the days ahead. How incredibly sad. I wish strength for the Norwegian people and those who have loved ones in the country. I know that the country is full of incredibly strong people, and this will help in the days to come.

Thoughts and prayers to the Norwegian people and all who hold them dear. I'll never be able to comprehend such violence and hatred.

I thought the "War on Terror" was a little bit pointless, since I mistakenly believed the terrorists would leave the West alone if the West left them alone. The fact that they (if it was indeed al Qaeda & Co) have attacked a country which plays absolutely no part in the "War on Terror" shows they have no aim at all other than pointless desctruction and violience against innocent people.

Sorry if this is too political bartenders. I'm a politically active person and I do my best to keep it outside the FL most of the time.

Newest development suggests that this is not done by Jihadists, bur rather by a single deranged Norwegian right wing extremist.

There are nutters and cretins everywhere. Scandinavia, though it is marketed - and certainly thought of - as a "safe" rural backwater, is just Europe. Like every other place in Europe, and so far as I can tell in the rest of the world, it is full of people, and a certain proportion of those people are nutjobs who will behave as such.

this doesn't diminish the magnitude of the horror, or sympathy for anyone affected. It just allows some mediation of jerked knees …

From Wikipedia:
[h=2]Norway[/h]The Norwegian forces in Afghanistan consist of one mechanized company and one support squadron from Telemark Bataljon, and one ISTAR-squadron from the Intelligence Battalion, all serving with ISAF forces in Kabul. Norway also has previously deployed four F-16 ground attack fighter jets in 2002 and four F-16s returned to support the ISAF force in Afghanistan later in 2006 alongside Dutch F-16s.[SUP][51][/SUP] The detachment is known as the 1st Netherlands-Norwegian European Participating Forces Expeditionary Air Wing (1 NLD/NOR EEAW).[SUP][52][/SUP]
On 8 February 2005, the US Navy and Marine Corps Presidential Unit Citation was awarded to Marinejegerkommandoen (MJK), the Norwegian Navy Special Forces, and to Hærens Jegerkommando (HJK), the Norwegian "Rangers", for their actions in Afghanistan since Operation Enduring Freedom onwards.

I was going to post on this topic too but someone beat me too it. Deepest condolences to any Norwegian members. They said on the news that this was the largest act of violence in Norway since the Nazis got kicked out. Ironic and sad. We are quick to blame everything on Al Queda, when sometimes its just a plain old crazy person!

This was my thought, exactly.

I was so sorry to hear this. Is there no safe country? I mean, Norway? Why?

I am a politically active guy, too and try my best to keep my thoughts away from the lounge.

....and my opinions are those which you rant about lol
That's even worse. I didn't think the method suited al Qaeda though. Time for an extensive rant about the far right on my blog...

I know what the news said, but I just don't think this was one person.
I smell something here....
Sorry but I'm of the belief at times that things that used to be conspiracy theory are now conspiracy fact.
Just funny about that I guess.
Yes it's easy to blame things on one particular group because they do 90% of these types of attacks.
However I agree that more investigation must be done to determine the real attacker(s).
At the same time, prayers need to be said for those involved in this horrific attack.
