Today, my barber rubbed a few dabs of Highlife VoodooBrew in my hair... I topped it of with a little Blue Magic for shine... I got to say, especially since it was a hot day, my pomp's still high 'n tight! Good stuff, the Voodoo Brew, didn't know it before. Quite expensive, my barber wants 20 euro's for a small can.

^You go to Leen/Bertus, right?

High Life is made here in the US and now only sold through High Life directly. I guess that's why the price is so high.

Anyone know what happened to Dapper Man pomade? I love that stuff but I can't find the website anymore. Did they go out of business? :(

I thought that there was a member here who mentioned that they knew the owner/maker... or am I mistaken? Maybe we could ask what happened.

I found the guy on Ebay and sent him a message. He replied:

"Thanks I value you opinion having a trademark prob should be resolved soon I will let you know Thanks for the biz Steve

- vintagemanstephan"

So I guess it's not all that bad, but it's possible he'll be tied up with the company that produced the movie, for quite a while.

What movie? Oh Brother Where Art Thou? I hope that isn't the case. In the movie the product is Dapper Dan and it is in an orange tin. I don't see how he is riding off them at all.

I assume it's that movie... The name was too close not to draw their attention, in my opinion.

I know, but the paranoia bred by corporate greed makes them believe so, I suppose. :/

A couple days ago, I picked up a tin of Royal Crown after getting my hair cut. I am very disappointed. It smells nice, but it does virtually nothing to hold. I will be sticking with Murray's Original in the future.

Also, the can is really shoddy. If it is not just sitting in my bathroom the lid will fall off and get gooey.

From what Jan Hella says and personal experience, Royal Crown pomade is more of a topcoat product, or maybe for some nonchalant slick back.
The cardboard tin I also find a bit of shame in a way, but it's got a nice bright and shiny color

*edit*

I personally think that Murray's original is a bit to ''dirty'' in a way. I would suggest using Black&White.

If you want something that's a whole lot more manageable than Murray's Superior, check out Dax Wave & Groom. The amount I suggest this product, I should be getting some sort of incentive! But, I can't deny a good product, that's as readily available as it is...

I'm gonna make a video to show a "tip/trick" to working with light pomades/hair dressings, such as Royal Crown. You can get some height and hold, but obviously, not as much as you would with something like Murray's or Dax.

I've read some thirty pages here, and there are lots and lots of different brands, advice, etc.
I wonder what would help my hairdo, my hair is very thick, stiff and springy. I do a timeless split (like Carey Grant), but the only thing that seem to work is three layers of very strong hair spray on day 1, and then I can get by with only 1 application a day. Of course, after sports, or when it gets greasy after 3 days, it needs a washing.
I've tried gel, but it doesn't hold well and looks strange.
I'm not a fan of the wetlook, but am eager to try a good pommade.

Yeah it really is just best used as a top coat for added shine. I had to stop using it regularly. because it gets all over everything and stains.
