Today at a fleamarket I picked up two great, old German movie posters - one for Orson Welles' Kafka adaptation of 'The Trial' and one for 'Weekend' by Jean Luc Godard.

Got this at the goodwill shop yesterday for a song. It looked pretty shabby initially, lots of (surface) scratches & the veneer on the large draw had discoloured. It's amazing what a few hours work will do. It looks great now.

It's from 1918, and on the back is written 'Uncle George Crossland.' Guess I have a new uncle!

Yesterday we hit several garage & estate sales, as well as our local flea market. Found several neat items, but the find of the day goes to my husband - he found a Willis & Geiger reproduction B3 jacket in his size, and in mint condition, for $20.

I'm delighted to report that yes, it was still there (not too much of a rush on 30's furniture I guess!) - it's going to spend the next few months in my Mum's garage as we have no space for it at the moment. Looking at it again (much closer) you really appreciate it for the fine piece of furniture that it is - so pleased we got it!
Lolly - beautiful dressing table - a bit of TLC and it will be looking fabulous!

A co-worker of mine bought a typewriter for me at auction ($6!!) and I'm wondering if you can help me date it.
I've scoured the internet looking for a photo of this model but to no avail. It's an Underwood Elliott Fisher, copyrighted between 1895 - 1927. I assume this one is dated between 1927 and 1963, since Underwood merged with Elliot Fisher in 27 and merged again with Olivetti in 63.
I tried to date it with this website but couldn't match my serial number up (but I just may be a dummy - I've never tried to date anything before). I also found a PDF of a model 3/4/5 owner's manual (which this one seems to be) so if I'm ever inclined to use it I can (being 21 I've never had to use a typewriter for anything) but for now it's office decor in the newsroom.

Got this for £1 off local carboot, it doesn't run as yet as it needs a new mainspring but is easily fixed when I find one, cosmetically it is pretty near mint...not sure of the age but guessing c1940-1960;
This looks exactly the same model as what my Grandpa brought back from the USA when he returned to Poland in 1956, Smith Alarm lettering, pale blue colour of the foot , creamy face and -just presumably- the numbers covered with fluorescent paint, gleaming greenish in the dark? This could narrow down your dates to late forties/early fifties' , b/c until that time my Grandpa was living in Germany.
Oh, how I hated that clock! Interrupted so many nightdreams!
But I have only now noticed the Made in Great Britain sign at the back. If Grandpa bought it in the UK, it would definitely put the clock's age at late forties, when he travelled to Paris and London (I have seen photos). I was fascinated by the semi circular slot through which one could see the inner mechanism working. Not really necessary, because it had a very loud tick. Gee, I am glad to see its twin!

I wasn't sure where to ask this question so please feel free to move it to a more appropriate thread if there is one - I saw this sideboard at a salvage yard (my first trip there - I LOVED it - it was such a mix of old/new and some amazing finds) - anyway I was wondering if any of you had opinions on what decade this is from - I originally thought 30's/40's but now am wondering whether it's 50's/60's - any thoughts would be much appreciated!
I didn't buy it - am having a think about it first!!!!!!
The feet indicates now later than very early fiftes. I have a coffee table with nearly identical feet and it was made in 1948
