Today I'm wearing some casual/outdoors clothing, Levi's 505, a cotton twill safari shirt from Old Navy, worn brown Docker's shoes, and my Stetson Open Road. It's very typical of my style; I'm not too formal, as I prefer the casual side of Golden Era inspired looks. I went on a two hour hike in the hills too.
Some hat-hair going on, but I like the look. My hair looks like this fairly often these days if I'm not particularly dressed up or going for a neater combed look.

Thanks, J.B! This was the last birthday I was looking forward to. I told everyone there that after turning 21 this week, I'm not getting older anymore. I'm done lol I know what you mean, too. These are all the people I palled around in high school with and just being altogether was like the old days. We were bringing up stories left and right! Now, we're all working in factories and doing the 'grown up' thing. The guy on the left and I were best pals through high school and now do the same job at the plant, no more than 10 feet from each other. The guy on the right has a kid of his own.
The hats are all mine. From left to right, Stetson, Scala, and Cavanaugh. In fact, the shirt on the left is mine, too!

Thanks. The jacket is really popular. I think the cut has something to do with it. Very traditional. To me, it always has that feeling of a riding jacket - close fit, high fastening, widish skirt. Oh, the joys of finding a Dunn & Co jacket (the only shop to have been stuck in the 1950s in the 1980s - and catering for old men. RIP)

On Saturday I was giving a lecture at the National Army Museum in London. I had decided what to wear as my base layer but was uncertain as to which jacket to wear it with. I tried on a number before reaching my decision - as a result I missed my train and was almost late for the lecture!
Which jacket do other 'loungers' think works best with this outfit (bearing in mind what I was wearing it for)?
Here is the base layer:
I tried the blue jacket (but worried it was too formal):
Then tried the checks (and thought it too casual, and more suited to summer):
Then the wool (but worried I might look too much like a 'tweedy historian'):

I would say the bottom one, goes nicely with the tie, it almost shouldn't work, but yet does.
I think the top one is the best look, but it is quite formal.
BTW What was the lecture on?

I would have chosen the checks. In my opinion it is not too casual and works quite well with the waistcoat and tie.

The lecture was on 'T Force' a British Army unit that went into Germany in the final weeks of World War 2 to search for German scientists, military secrets and research projects, to bring them back to the UK to work for the British. (One notable example was a Dr Walter who spent 12 years developing hydogen peroxide engines for use in submarines. He actually appears as a character in Ian Fleming's 'Moonraker' as a German scientist working on rocket engines - a collision of art and reality.
